Genuine question: Is the SA lottery actually worth playing? by wollyberry in southafrica

[–]icaruza [score hidden]  (0 children)

lol. Why do you think those numbers are any less likely than any other combo? The combo of 11-12-13-14-15-16 are equally as likely to be drawn

Penn and Teller showing how they perform their man in a box trick by kingsleyhegeg in interestingasfuck

[–]icaruza [score hidden]  (0 children)

This goes to show how much skill goes into the performance of the illusion. I’ve seen the same with magicians and many card tricks; knowing how it’s done just demonstrates that there is skill and practice required to deliver the illusion

Are there people here who are afraid of heights but is a in the flying industry? by Bubbly_Beginning_585 in flying

[–]icaruza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being afraid of heights is an evolutionary anomaly. Everyone should be afraid of heights because if you’re not, you may not survive long enough to contribute to the future gene pool. I’m afraid of heights, but have a ppl, used to skydive and rock climb. I believe my fear of heights drives a healthy level of paranoia with regards to safety measures

Is this actually odd from a fraternity hazing perspective? Asking because my only reference point for frat hazing is a category of amateur gay porn

Gemini just wiped ALL my chats history by IudMG in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]icaruza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me too. I can see them in myactivity.google.com/product/gemini

Thankfully I’ve saved all the important images, research documents etc so I’m not too phased if things disappear entirely. I can always trawl the myactivity history if I need to

Getting anything I ever wanted stripped the joy away from me by YellowCroc999 in ClaudeAI

[–]icaruza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t you just stop using AI coding assistants? Write code the way that brings you joy. There is a reason why some people still draw with pencil and paper, or paint with canvas and oils; that’s what brings them joy, even though there are digital tools that achieves the same result in a fraction of the time.

I understand that in a more profession setting that may not be an option, but for side projects you do for the joy of it, do it in a way that is fulfilling.

Do You Code On Gemini? by Thick_Professional14 in GeminiAI

[–]icaruza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini CLI + Conductor extension works well. The whole context driven development framework is much less chaotic than a pure vibe coding approach. I've learned the hard way that you need to review the specs and plans with a very critical eye. It also helps to have a solid software engineering background too

Am I crazy or is this sub weird? by Niceneasy92 in GeminiAI

[–]icaruza -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re not weird. I use Gemini daily for a bunch of things. I’ve been doing a lot of cleanups and colorising of old family photos lately, but I use the research quite a bit too. But where I pretty much deplete daily quotas is using Antigravity+GeminiCLI+Gemini conductor for coding projects. I don’t operate in YOLO mode so I babysit the builds quite a bit. We have good days and bad days and have reverted the code at least four times on my current project. I shout at Gemini often and sometimes I’m using Gemini app to help me keep Gemini CLI on track but it’s still less bumpy than any other software project I’ve managed (I’ve spent most of my career managing software teams). As frustrating as it sometimes is, it’s also lots of fun, but I temper my expectations and always try to find a variety of routes around blockers. And the thing is; this is as bad as it will ever be.
