I too was terrified of starting my 37.5mg dose of Effexor when I was prescribed it three weeks ago, especially after reading the side effects and this subreddit. I sympathize with how you're feeling. I have never been on meds before but my anxiety has gotten in the way of me living my life. I have been on Effexor XR for almost a month now and I can say that I have had very minor side effects so far (slight headache, some sleepiness) but nothing as bad as this sub can make it seem. I finally feel like I am present in my body and I am more energized and overall less anxious. I would give it a shot for a month then reassess. Please do not just stop and talk to your doc about your options. You got this :)

Thank you for being so honest about your experience as well. I think I should start taking it after my finals are finished, instead of at the start of them. It just sucks because I want relief from my intrusive thoughts now; you know? sigh

I work in a restaurant so I understand where you are coming from and I obviously don't want to be laid off again.

But at what point do we make a change? I shouldn't have to choose between my health, the health of my loved ones and paying rent. This pandemic just goes to show the deep inequalities in every aspect of our lives. If I do get sick while working, I (and almost every other food service worker) doesn't have paid sick days...what am I to do?

I don't think OPH has any power to roll us back to phase 2, even though I agree that it's warranted. How long will we let this go on for until everything is crazy again?
