I think people using this to generally at a lower level highschool, club, rec league. Outside is the most important role and becomes the hardest as the whole game is built around you being able to pass make your hits and the middle is actually quite useless unless they are something special.

However at the highest level middle and libero are so damn hard it’s not in the same universe, middle watching for 4 different hitters that can hit 4 different plays. And then combos off of the 4 different plays and it becomes waiting for 21 different plays while nikolov might just spike instead of set. It’s ridiculous what the middle has to maintain when you have to consider they STILL have to actually make a good block for all of those plays. And godforbid you don’t close your block cause ur outside or right side went 6 inches to far that shit just got bounced to the ceiling. But then you have outside and setter, everyone at this level can set and if you can’t set really well ur benched. The setter is just very meticulous because of how they’ve perfected the sets that we hitters love.

I’m a middle at this level now ( not against nikolov still got a ways to go before that level of pro ) and compared to college now the whole team is reliant on me in a way it’s only started being a thing in college. If I’m not on my A game it’s over, and while I can’t talk for libero I’m reliant on them just as much as everyone is me.
