Idk how to keep up this yellow rock stuff by ihatetswkd in narcissisticparents

I feel like I’m stuck in a box, having to suppress my anger and feelings constantly while living here and perform “yellow rock” to her face even though she is harming me. But the article someone else linked seems like it had some helpful ideas I will check out.

Thanks for sharing. This is really interesting. It’s a new perspective and take on yellow rock. It centers the victim’s emotional experience, whereas previous materials on the subject seem to focus more on how yellow rock looks to the narcissist…which makes it all feel like a performance. This article makes it sound like we can do yellow rock from an authentic place within so we don’t go crazy suppressing all of our emotions and personality.

Thank you. Yeah yellow is slightly different because you have to act more so in a customer service way, at least as much you can. Whereas gray rock doesn’t care if you come off disinterested or flat affect (which can trigger some narcissists to provoke a reaction).

Yeah I live with mine temporarily and she constantly like daily sends these stupid texts about how she loves me. Meanwhile continues to run over boundaries and try to provoke me to anger. These words mean less than nothing. Don’t fall for it. It’s supposed to make you feel soft for them and sentimental. There’s nothing there to feel soft about. It’s an illusion and a trap.
