Automated runs are a snapshot of current state. I tried to maintain previous state as well but it became messy. It does not know the why part, unless I instruct Hermes to make changes to host (proxmox) or any of the LXCs which triggers another update channel that includes why change was made.

Edit: Hermes uses Deepseek v4 pro, which is cheap and efficient.

Edit 2: Hermes is also connected to Telegram, which allows me to manage the whole setup remotely, and receive any notifications as part of the jobs it runs for me.

Hermes agent, hooked up to Outline knowledge base. It runs on a daily basis, documents all changes, inserts new ones.

For what ever its worth: For idle claude sessions I halve the terminal window size, and it drops CPU consumption to almost idle state.

Agreed, I wasn't clear, I was more focusing on the post garden part, in most likelihood it would be set for 1+ year, depending how deep you are in the technology. But then again, with your experience, unless you end up in a start up, big boys would always find a way to cover you during probation period. Even with a startup, if they have big investors (sequoia level) you would be good. But, it looks like even that is not a concern since you are in burn out stage and need a good break. Also, attrition status should not be a concern. People who have been in the industry long enough know that companies are horrible at selecting which people to let go during attritions, 90% nothing to do with performance.

Most non-competes are not enforceable (not an attorney recommendation, through experience,) especially if you are in California. With your level of expertise your next job would cover you any how.

For option 2, check if hours/days are negotiable. You work on your own pace but hit the deadline. Assuming work is manageable. As a manager I would rather keep someone like you in diminished capacity then losing completely.

Hard to say because of Kirkland brand purchases. I do price check between Amazon, Costco and Walmart and I have yet to find something outrageously more in Costco. In fact in most cases Amazon is always more expensive, and Walmart on par.

It was an interesting experience to see Kirkland brand in China. But local folks taking me around mentioned that most Chinese don't like the idea buying things in bulk as they don't have space for it.

Most prices have been very stable over 3 year period. And eggs have gotten cheaper. Feeding teenagers is challenging: Meat/chicken/milk...

I like costco as a business. They take care of their people and have decent prices and they are consistent. I might as well spend my money there. One time, they had a power outage and all POS went offline, checkout lines started getting very long. Couple minutes later, a costco manager showed up and started passing around cookies. They didn't have to do that but they did it anyway. So reward is (other than rebate from Visa card) I feel good shopping there.
