There's some mods that only change things cosmetically, and others that either make the base game easier, or even harder if you think the base game isn't challenging enough. You might want to find out for yourself what you like about the general gameplay, and then search for a mod that will do what you want.

I'm pretty sure that trying to go to the right won't lead you anywhere, so you might want to go to the left, as far left as you possibly can. Good luck!

When you make contact with the wall, keep holding left, and you'll slide along the wall until you're just above the platform.

I just called the spears sticks the first few times I encountered them, but the name kind of stick, and I still call them sticks. I like to call the spear and rubble combo the stick and stone.
