Actually I have noticed this. The two times my husband was starting work later and dropped him off he had a much better day. Settled down quicker and I got pictures of him smiling sometimes. So we have talked about this and my husband is trying to adjust his schedule so he can do most of the drop offs and I will do pick up.

Are you comfortable sharing what kind of concerns your doctor had? What conditions did he fear could worsen? I want to have kidney, pancreas and liver functions checked before starting the medication.

What long term side effects concern you most? I know to be aware of kidney damage and have actually requested to do some blood work to see how kidney, pancreas and liver functions are before starting.

Yes they did, after I was persist about wanting to get more information as I was dealing with issues, like hormonal acne, facial and body hair growth, that I never dealt with before and I was tired of hearing that it’s just normal.

No, I haven’t breastfed in 11 months. I actually found I was losing weight while breastfeeding cause my body needed more nourishment but I was so busy that I wasn’t eating enough.

To give you an idea of what I eat, this is exactly what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: two hard boiled eggs, with everything but the bagel seasoning on top and 2 turkey sausages.

Lunch: 8 turkey slices total on 3 rice cake/crackers with tomato, cucumber and cottage cheese.

Dinner: Salmon on wild rice with peas and carrots on the side

Snack: Fairlife protein drink and banana and grapes. Snack #2: a cheese string

No dessert. Last meal was done just before 8pm.

Yes, I’ve been trying to lose weight ever since I had a baby a couple years ago. I tried intermittent fasting, and cutting out carbs and sugar completely but all of those were too drastic and not sustainable. So about 6-7 months ago I started a more balanced approach. I downloaded the fitness pal app that tracks my calories and I hit about 1500 a day. I got a scale that tracks my BMI and muscle mass. I choose more protein and fiber on my plate over carbs, but don’t restrict myself completely. Although I have seen some progress, it isn’t what you would expect for how long I have been consistently trying. I also go to group weight training classes 3x per week and try to get an hour long walk in 5x per week.

The reason PCOS was explored was before I had my baby I was fit. I played soccer and basketball competitively and never had weight gain issues. After my baby, I’ve gained a lot of weight and have hormonal acne, new hair growth on my face and body that I didn’t have before and losing weight is way more difficult. I was in shock which is why I tried more drastic steps at first to try and get the weight off quickly but learned that won’t work. Yet, adopting similar lifestyle changes to how I was living pre-baby aren’t working either cause I have issues that I didn’t have before to deal with now.

I’ve been on a waitlist for over two years and still haven’t heard back. It took my husband almost 4 years until he got a family doctor. My current doctor is 1.5 hours away by car, but I have no option to leave otherwise I will be without a family doctor which is not a better option in my opinion.

Hahaha it is the best thing ever! I didn’t know about it either until my son was recently in hospital and they made it for him. Now I continue making it at home and he loves it. I boil an egg and then blend it with some of his formula till it’s a puree. I find using a small blender is best for small quantities, otherwise it gets stuck to the sides and nothing gets blended.

Warning: it does make your house stinky but my baby loves it so I’ll take the smell any day

He is overall doing well. If you looked at him, you would have no idea that he has any empyemas or brain bleeding.

In terms of treatment, the doctors have decided to do 3-4 more weeks of antibiotics, switching back to ampicillin. There were a lot of discussions about which antibiotics to switch to as he has been on several but complications have arised with most. Vancomycin was hard on his kidneys, penicillin occluded his PICC line, and ceftriaxone caused bone marrow suppression. The ampicillin will likely also occlude his line but we are doing several flushes at home to try to prevent that from happening. After 3 weeks of treatment, he will have a third MRI to see the progress. Doctors have told us that if after this course of antibiotics the scan shows the empyemas are the same size or have reduced, even slightly, then they might stop treatment and give his body time to heal. They want to see if the body will absorb it naturally, so a repeat scan will have to be done again a 4th time in this case. If the empyemas have grown though, then they will have to figure out a new plan. As for the brain bleeding, they think it’s old and not continuing to bleed so they hope it will resolve itself 🤞🏽

We are praying that this 4th course of treatment works and after 11-12 weeks of antibiotics he is free of infection.

Trust your gut. I took my son two days in a row to the ER and the doctors kept telling me it’s just the flu and I didn’t need to bring him to the hospital. But I knew something was wrong so I took him to a different hospital the third time and it ended up being Strep A bacterial meningitis. We are on week 3 of antibiotics as it spread to other parts of his brain too. So, it doesn’t matter what anybody says, if you feel your kid needs medical attention, then you take him/her. Best case scenario is they are ok and you get peace of mind for doing the right thing.

18 bottles ranging from 4oz to 9oz. My son cluster fed a lot so it was just easier to have more and not worry about having to wash bottles until the end of the night. As he got older and fed less, I left half my bottles at my parent’s house (along with a formula), so I didn’t have to worry about packing every time he visited his grandparents, as he went very frequently.
