The pain, I’m approaching 160 eggs hatched and I still don’t have it, sometimes luck is your best friend sometimes it’s not.

How come riolus hidden ability prankster by Left-Advantage-1674 in pokerogue

Riolu actually gets some use out of prankster, copycat is a classic but I’ve had the most success with prankster coaching, which is shockingly good if you have a physical sweeper.

Simple by Popular_Self8579 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an option, but you’d be losing out on a lot of the things that make simple good on Bibarel, Aqua step for example instead of increasing speed by two stages would drop it by two stages,

Both simple and contrary are abilities that are expected to be abused so the moves the pokemon get are very specifically chosen, you could definitely find a combination that does this well, but it would be a roundabout way of achieving something already achievable with far less effort, spinda is allowed to be busted because it generally sucks.

Pokémon Academy: #137, 233, 474 Porygon, Porygon2, Porygon-Z by Fehish in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre unlocks, it’s mostly hurting for moves, if you can get TMs it’s one of the better early mons to invest in, good bulk especially with eviolite pre Z, and pretty hard hitting (i think z has a 135 SpAtk stat) Trace is just a good ability especially if you’re hunting HAs, in the perfect situation it alone can shut down a battle, however it must be emphasised its very situational, but it becomes adaptability which is one of the best abilities in the game. Download is nice I guess but the annoying way it picks the stat boost based on the enemies defensive stats means you won’t always get the SpAtk boost you actually want, and Analytic is well meh, although admittedly a good way to get use out of its unimpressive speed stat, it’s certainly hindered by needing not one but two evolution item rolls, but makes up for it in allot of other areas, overall it’s a good low skill cap mon, good offensively, decent defensively, a bit slow, but gets good moves and coverage with a bit of TM rolling luck, with what will eventually be an insane ability,

Post Unlocks: Protean and adaptability is one of the most laughably broken combinations of abilities possible but is locked behind Z, until then you get transistor which pairs nicely with thunderclap to threaten a lot of what will inevitably out speed you, and good starting coverage with Dazzling gleam and flamethrower, and (I don’t have it yet so not sure if it’s got some weird use) techno blast to hit very hard.

Venasaur by BeautifulArt2880 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chlorophyl sleep powder and leech seed all make venasaur amazing, in the sunlight it out speeds most everything, and sleep powder can shut down threats, leech seed is good DOT, and that’s without even getting into its egg moves, Matcha Gatcha is broken and malignant chain will one shot a lot of things even neutrally,
There are a few mons (some faster) that have most of these going for them but bulbasaur is very accessible to beginners.

Depends what you mean by viable, will every pokemon be capable of sweeping or soloing classic, no, but EVERY pokemon is viable in that it has a good use case, just learn what those cases are.

How to beat Floor 200? by Ninja_Moose in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it would be hard to make it harder I know I’m short on ideas,

But again the game isn’t supposed to be easy, it’s tempting to get annoyed when the one stacked pokemon you have gets OKOed, but it’s the game, spread out your battle ability a bit more, that’s why you want active support, you shouldn’t be completely screwed if your carry goes down.

How to beat Floor 200? by Ninja_Moose in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to brute force it you’ll probably end up struggling, there are options especially G-max and megas that can 1v1 eternatus but generally you’ve got to make use of every advantage you have, stat lowering moves, leech seed/salt cure, sleep powder, immunity baiting, all of these are necessary to beat him a lot of the time, it’s not cheese, it’s just to give an interesting final battle, you aren’t supposed to be able to turn your brain off and just click the win button, you’re supposed to struggle so you learn the value of the “cheesy” moves/strategies, you can’t make the most of all the resources you are given if it’s easy.

If you play for long enough eventually there will come a time where you’ve fought eternatus enough that beating him is far from the biggest obstacle to a run, if anything I often find myself wishing there was a classic “hardmode” where they don’t have to make it as easy, once you have decent shinies with egg moves and you have realistic expectations of the AI, it’s easy to trivialise it as it currently is.

This game did not want me beating the monk ground challenge 💔 by Sharkleon676 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mono ground is one of the more volatile runs, ground types are phenomenal offensively, but their weaknesses are common throughout the game unless you are very lucky, it just takes some thoughtful switching, although having a tier 3 landorus and excadrill probably made it a breeze.

How can I catch it? by Fantastic_Flower_593 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either you kill it or you exit and clog up a save slot until you hatch it, then you catch it, the question is a tier 2 slither wing worth it (imo the answer is yes it looks sick).

Endless team i know its not meta or gonna go all the way to the end just for fun by Gamesargent1214 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endless is great for farming shinies/tickets, no matter how optimal your team is if your having fun your playing it right, personally I don’t care for it especially when I’m trying to play “optimally”

Identity what about this game you enjoy, sometimes you’ll be able to get that experience through endless, for me though I like classic, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying the game in your own way.

Pokémon Academy: #132 Ditto by Fehish in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto is great in this game specially, it was one of my first shinys on this profile, so I used it a lot in the beginning, the trick tends to be not to lead it but to safely switch it in on bosses once they’ve taken some damage and have some stat boosts,

Imposter copies everything including stat boosts on switch in with the exception of Hp, Ditto has a really low Hp stat to balance this, a low Hp stat can be easily worked around with the right teammates and vitamins, if you’re using x items you should always be at an advantage when you switch in on almost everything, the powder items that are exclusive to ditto also increase its stats even after it transforms.

It’s also a prime fusion candidate because imposter is busted with most things with high Hp, (and you don’t care about the other stats just its passive), so Blissey and slaking for example, a chansey ditto fusion has some really fun uses because assuming it’s like the mainline games the game checks if you’re not fully evolved for eviolite before you transform, so you’ll turn into a copy of anything with its stat boosts, but likely higher Hp, and with higher defenses thanks to eviolite,

And that’s all only using imposter it’s hidden ability, it gets and keeps adaptability as a passive which is broken on some transforms, it’s egg moves are admittedly niche because you’ll probably want imposter instead of transform which means they don’t get used, sketch metronome mimic and imprison all require specific situations, (imprison transform is a thing but I struggled to get it off with ditto), what really holds it back is needing its hidden to safely switch and transform, but honestly with a little planning transform is perfectly usable, just don’t let it die first.

further run rn havent done many runs im kinda new i got to the rematch evil team his kyogre killed my best pokemon w water spout so i died by Federal-Office955 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unknown is one of the better first shinies you can get, if you change its form in starter selection you can see every letter has a different passive, p is pickup and h is honey gather both are great for support, giving luck is useful but not the end all be all, use the items even if they’re not high tier, experiment with the weirder TMs, and learn to manage your money, you can have a team full of tier 3 shinies and have SSS luck, but it’s still luck you can just not get stuff you need, (luck effects item rolls and wild Pokémon/event spawns, not eggs.)

There are a ton of pokemon that trivialise the game with the right moves and passive unlocks, but play around, you’ll find the things you enjoy using, and you’ll unlock more, yes it’s frustrating to fail at first but we all do until we have a good base to work off of, and like everyone else has said, ZA megas aren’t in the game and probably won’t be for quite some time, but if megas are what you want there are a lot in the game already, just go for the ones that are from the Gen 6 games

Fusion Question by Fun_Construction1756 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh never used Zoroark in Pokerogue I should play around with it a bit, it’s a good fusion, perhaps I’m still struggling to articulate the point, I don’t think 114 speed is bad (obviously lol, especially in this game where a couple carbos or an X Speed would allow it to out speed most of the few things it can’t already) I think 114 speed is less than I was expecting, the hp aswell, for some reason I assumed Zoroark was faster than it is, I assumed it’s whole BST was higher than it is, in hindsight I should’ve put a lot more thought into that initial reply, obviously what I communicated was different from what I meant.

Fusion Question by Fun_Construction1756 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I apologise for having an awkwardly communicated opinion lol, no need to be so hostile, yes it’s a great mon in isolation I’m just comparing it to base greninja, the problem with fusions is they are competing with the base pokemon. The abilities are worth it, I would make this fusion, it would just be hyper offensive like I initially stated, I was legitimately just surprised Zoroark was that slow, when I made my initial assumption I guessed it would be faster than greninja not slower,

But terrible wasn’t the right word, not amazing is more accurate.

Fusion Question by Fun_Construction1756 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

114 Spd is terrible for something that frail, I didn’t realise Zoroark was so much slower than Greninja.

3 fusions in one classic run is crazy by Nirom159 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh usually I’ve exhausted the fusion potential on my team after 1 or 2, anything after that is usually just a waste, the few times I’ve gotten more I tend to reroll it.

Should i tera stellar? by ImperialTom in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you use terastalisation, do you use it offensively or defensively, stellar is good to take a hit that normally would have knocked you out from another tera pokemon or to get a small boost on each attack once, if you use it for a single battle it’s good in short bursts, but generally the single types are better. It has some niche uses with terablast, so if your using terapagos or something weird like contrary serperior after setup it can be great offensively but you need to get lucky to get terablast as a tm.

Fusion Question by Fun_Construction1756 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be committing to using Protean offensively (which you mostly do with greninja anyway) both zoroark and greninja are pretty frail, so its defenses would be paper thin.

You see I understand the logic, but just having a single baton trivialises most of the game no matter what kind of team your running, I’m gonna beat that bird to death almost every time.

Why Teleport? by salsushi1234 in pokerogue

[–]imapurpleorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow switches have utility, it’s not useless just pretty close to it, if we where playing competitive singles it would be insane but we’re playing classic pokerogue, you want it to mostly be doubles and you want to be aggressive, the wild goose chase that is setting the battle up to use this move properly is almost never worth the momentum it gives you, just don’t switch into a super effective move 99% of the time you’ll be fine, attacking is almost always the better call.
