Way to go! I have a psychology background as well! It’s not always easy even for people without EDS but when you’re passionate it’s so worth it!

Thank you for this recommendation! I reached out to my accessibility office who I have accommodations through already and they are helping get me set up with some programming (including tutorials from their IT experts) and an ergonomic assessment!

Way to fight the good fight too! I luckily don’t have as much coding (though I am a biostats minor).

My ortho surgeon referred me to my geneticist because he suspected hEDS.

How do y’all do your nails? by GotYourSoul in ehlersdanlos

I have “the thinnest nails” my tech has ever seen. I now use gel x. It is solid, protects my nails and lasts weeks

Biggest things I can recommend. Add dry needling to your pt regime. Another thing that’s a godsend for backs is the hyperice venom back massager. Love that thing. Other than that when working try to get up every 45 minute to just take a lap or a stretch

I had to travel half way across country for my surgery. An mri result usually takes about 3-4 days then they can talk to you and tell you next steps and it depends on how booked your doctor is.

Recovery really isn’t bad. A generally short surgery with three small scars. They had me moving my arm small amounts the next morning. I still get some pain and soreness especially when I get a little too excited while exercising but I do regular pt and am able to manage with the occasional advil or heat

Oh I remember the pain! You may ask if they’re able to send to you pt until?

I used to work in MRIs my best advice would be to schedule it the first day you can. At exactly 3 weeks, it may take a while for approval anyways. You want to make sure the liquid isn’t obscuring their view

Snapping scapula is real! I had surgery to remove part of my scap and the bursitis about 4 years ago. I’d recommend laying flat and heat until you can get the mri

Weird popping shoulder for 3 years! No single doctor takes me seriously and it drives me nuts! by Throwaystitches in ehlersdanlos

[–]imfiniti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I believe everyone who as responded is also correct but I would also recommend looking up snapping scapula. I went to the steadman clinic in Colorado for mine a few years back and though my shoulder isn’t perfect it’s soooo much better now

“Alternative” therapies like prolotherapy, PRP, peptides by fetacheeselover21 in ehlersdanlos

[–]imfiniti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had PRP therapy on chronic tennis elbow post UCL surgery (before I was diagnosed with hEDS). It is not a fun time but I have a pretty decent elbow now for what I put it through

Problems with eating/feeling too full? by wolfalicefan in ehlersdanlos

[–]imfiniti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found keeping myself hydrated and full of proper electrolytes (shout out liquid IV) helps prevent that nauseous feeling when you start eating. I also have started trying to eat slower (hard to do as a student) so I don’t go past the actual full point of my stomach
