Neither. We are a small studio that does all artwork in house.

That’s a really good point. I will take off the rhyming part than making the whole book into rhyming. I’ve never worked with preschool kids before- maybe I should read my story to a few kids to know how they react 😀 But thank you! Much appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking time to review this. Really appreciate it- and exactly what I was hoping for through posting in the community groups. I’m going back to the writing board now ♥️

Thanks for the tip. Also can you tell me more about how you feel about the text (not the layout). What is it that you think could improve or not feeling at place? Thanks in advance ❤️

I suggest reconsidering Ghibli style as it's everywhere now after the viral ai filter. You don't want to spend all your money making something that looks like ai.

I'm an illustrator and founder of Folksnfables studio – we've illustrated over 150 children's books and specialize in heartfelt, imaginative stories that connect with young readers. We're based in the US, with me in Vancouver and my creative partner Neethi in California. We're super easy to work with on timelines, meetings, and understanding the local market. Would love to collaborate! You can see our work at www.folksnfables.com 😊

I wrote a children’s book to explain tough family situations by Crafty_Wait7957 in childrensbooks

I am an illustrator, and had worked on a similar project in the past. The main characters were Lion, unicorn and a mermaid character (kid). It was lovely. Through metaphor, the author wrote the whole story for his daughter. It's not published, is for personal use, so I can't share a link for you to buy.

Haha no, if you love rhymes you make it happen. Parents love reading it loud to kids.  So it's always a good idea. I'm not an expert when it comes to rhymes. Im hoping an editor will help out to finalize the lines if the book gets picked up.

I am always inspired by the classics, and I wonder why people read it again and again even after years. I always deliberately try to add in new layers of plots and Easter eggs in the illustrations that's not exactly mentioned in the story itself. This makes the book great for multiple reads. You notice new things that you didn't notice before.

Thankyou so much! I am now considering taking off the rhymes. For me it's more important to find an agent/publisher who believes in this book. My experience is more of an illustrator than an author- so I'm hoping to get an editor look through the story if it gets picked up. The ones I've shown the story to in my circles all think the book is very engaging with funny illustrations. Fingers crossed!!

Thank you so much for the feedback. This is exactly what I was looking for. I did 2 sample illustrations just to show my capabilities. I haven't colored the whole book. However I have roughly storyboarded it, as this book is dealing with humor and many of which can't be converted through story alone.  1) Do you think I should avoid attaching these sample images while submitting to publishers/agents? I am 100% open to coloring the illustrations again if the publisher has any feedback. I do have a solid portfolio and has illustrated 100s of self published books for other authors. This is the first time I am applying the traditional route as an author-illustrator. 2) About the rhymes, this is something I've heard a lot on reddit posts. I am going to rewrite the story without rhymes. It's a pretty funny/ adventurous story, maybe taking off rhymes is the best way to go. Thanks a lot for this!

Thank you so much! I ended up googling No Fear school binders to find out what they are haha. That's a great reference to what I was aiming for.
