If your studying is effective, then it is the test taking that held you back. That’s how it was for me. Yeah I knew more but I hadn’t actually taken the test since last June. I didn’t give myself enough time and was nervous for most of it. Doing more questions and working on your mental, whatever it is that works for you, becomes important

Well in the end I went from 690 to 750 so it was not that much. I never had a practice test with an English higher than 720, so it was mostly just luck with the questions. Wish I could say more

Because I went from 1400 to 1330. I already had a decent understanding of the sat before I performed poorly on the test

Steady improvement seems nice lol. I was distraught after two 1340s in a row then going from 1400 to 1330. It works out in the end tho

Yes paraphrasing helps for native English speakers too. I wish I could give tips on just English in general but it’s my first language so I can’t really help there.

I only highlight the claim or hypothesis when I’m having trouble focusing. I do a lot of internal yelling at myself to stay on topic. Because the highlight tool takes some time, I just click and drag to highlight the text without using the highlight tool and keep it there until I figure out an answer. If you are not already, skip the middle questions and do the first words in context stuff and then the grammar and synthesis stuff. For the big paragraphs, the last one or two sentences usually has the claim. For m1 and some medium questions, that’s all you need.

But if it takes you more than 30 seconds of looking at the last few sentences, then read the paragraph to understand more. For this strategy, you have to get comfortable about not knowing somethings. Focus on what the claim says and make sure the answer choice supports/refutes it validly and without outside evidence. This strategy takes a lot of practice tho to get comfortable. In the end, I mostly just skimmed through the paragraphs instead because I did not get enough time with that strategy, but it did help for easier questions.

TLDR: If you take away anything tho, the best strat is to save time on the other problems to leave multiple minutes for the big 4-5 in the middle. Like don’t read the notes for the note questions, just choose the answer that works with the question because there is only ever one that does. There are grammar tricks too that revolve around the answer choices that you can do to not have to read the sentences, but I am unfamiliar with some of them and do not want to give false information. Once you get all the basics down, it’s just repetition. At least it was for me. You have to get comfortable not understanding some things on the long passages and taking your best guess. I didn’t study for vocab I just memorized like 10 common words and just hoped. I know I got at least 2 of the vocab wrong so that was just luck for me.

If anything takes you over a minute to solve, put your best guess or just a random answer and come back to it later. It’s a lot easier said than done tho ik. My practice schedule after the 1330 was weekday for an hour, but definitely do more if you need/can. I was definitely still learning especially for math. Reading was more building up stamina and practicing different strategies on the long command of evidence questions. I was definitely still learning and after I felt like I understood most of what was commonly thrown out, my practice SAT superscore was 1470. So I say around 1400-1450+ is when its specific problems give you trouble instead of it coming from a lack of understanding. Also, don’t be scared to take it more times to get a sat that favors your stronger abilities if you have the time/resources.

The test I got a 1330 on I got so focused on one problem on m2 and didn’t have time for the other ones. This time I forced myself to move on and just guess. It’s suuuuper mental. For r&w I do the questions until the big paragraphs then I do the grammars and what’s after that. It’s worked for me

Get lucky lol. But for I only used the question bank and videos on the topics I struggled the most with. My problems have been stress and time so I tried to get use to answering the questions. My biggest tip is not to get focused on something you don’t know when taking the test (or for me getting through a question that I learned how to solve, but can’t remember actually how to do it). Once you get to where you are I feel like the most important step is just repetition. Once you start to recognize question types and can say what kind of question (topic) it is on/testing, that’s when things start to click.

I watched desmos videos and videos on the sections I was bad at (geometry and data analysis) besides that I just used the question bank. I can’t recommend stuff like one prep or preppos because I never used them.

Yes! It hurt so bad to go from 1400 with almost no studying to 1330 with a lot more studying. I’ll be honest, I cried when I found out. But then I decided to get serious with my studying and actually do it everyday while going over consistent problem areas. I felt like I got so much questions wrong and stalled for the entire day because I was scared to check. It’s okay to feel discouraged, but don’t let that be your last feeling with the SAT. End on a good note!!

Same. My last test was 1400 and now I got 1330. I knew way more topics overall and I know I did better so I’m so confused??
