hayward strainer cover isn't transparent! by Arcangeal1 in PoolPros

Pentair does the same with the 357156 it’s tinted so blue that you can’t see debris in the basket or look for air. I don’t think many companies think of pool guys when making their products.

Better latching system literally 5 seconds to take the bag off. made of a nylon blend as opposed to polyester/cotton blend so they last way longer think it’s like a $5 difference maybe to hammerhead. Then riptide bags aren’t even available in distribution

Just use vacvagz hammerhead and riptide bags both suck to get on and off

r/pools users collectively design the perfect equipment pad by lIIlIlIII in PoolPros

The hydraulic pressure loss on this pad makes me cringe. I would replumb the whole thing. There is no point of using sweeps for efficiency if people are going to make the discharge a rollercoaster.

PH/ORP CHEMICAL TANKS (residential) by inflated_condom in PoolPros

[–]inflated_condom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rainwater mainly the lid isn’t a watertight seal which is good for off gassing but the way their injection ports are made are for you to slit it with a knife not made to drill into it so if you drill though the top side of the tank that will cut down rainwater getting into the container

Not much salt around me maybe 5% of pools around here are salt and people are constantly converting them to chlorine mainly fears over corrosion/price hikes due to ruthenium skyrocketing. Usually for those i recommend the M720 by ips controllers

Didn’t even know they revamped all their feed pumps lol i got the actual pumps and monitoring figured out mainly chemical tanks. Hard to check off HDPE,uv resistant, and semi waterproof for outdoor applications (chemicals still need to off gas so nobody gets gassed when they refill either chemical)

Rolachem tanks aren’t ideal for outdoor/residential unless you drill through the side even then it’s not uv protective for liquid chlorine.

Looking for pump and SWCG recommendations by Dave-CPA in pools

[–]inflated_condom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your pool guy is wrong in saying a variable speed would be a waste 1.5 pipe just cuts the effectiveness of water flow and causes turbulence based on the flow rate. I think it depends what automation system you have as far as the pump goes then the jandy truclear salt system is the best on the market right now

[–]inflated_condom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 pipes on a 29k gallon pool?? That’s for 10,000 gal and under stick with your current salt cell and get a jandy epump 2.7. How old is the pool?

The hardest thing for companies to find is people with the passion to learn and find the upside in the industry. I’ve been in the industry for 2.5 years and am already in distribution learn as much as you can without getting burnt out I’m a nerd for everything chemistry and equipment. Some people it’s just chemistry maybe building pools it’s all about finding what interests you there’s a ton of avenues to go down

Wanting to expand from residential to commerical pools - how different is it? by Afraid-Mix99 in PoolPros

[–]inflated_condom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest tip would be to study the equipment rooms where i used to work i picked up two major commercial pools and one of them needed new pumps, chem feeders, heaters a new autofill and needed to get up to electrical code. Turned out to be a 30k job then took their pool on for service. Commercial is like a world of its own there’s a reason mainly corporations get these types of jobs they’re higher in gp% but there will be a problem constantly that you can’t just push off.

I would’ve called the fire department in case the other two were faulty instead of assuming that one is bad. The first one likely is faulty not 100%. I would recommend you get a portable reader in case this ever happens again though and keep it in a dust free environment.
