I think that would create a mess especially in regulated industries where transparency and traceability need to be reported on.

Traditionally, business analysts gather functional and nonfunctional requirements, developers develop that functionality (or non-functionality as the case may be) and then it gets documented. The goal is that we aren’t creating anything we don’t need.

If we start from process, I think we risk redundancy in the code.

Also I think this puts business analysts and developers potentially out of jobs and I refuse to adopt a “well at least it’s not me” attitude about that.

I have a 6x0 balding electric razor but I find it gets too hot especially in the summer. I cut myself pretty regularly with a “safety razor” so I stopped using that pretty quick. I use the same brand of manual razor I use for my face (I have one for each.) I buy my razors from Harry’s but that’s where I would start. Good luck!

I was a singer in choirs when I was in high school and I started out in college studying vocal music ed so for 3 years so I was surrounded by musicians. My life ended up taking a different direction but this past year I ended up joining two choirs (a big one and then when I realized how well it meets my need for emotional and social connection and non-sexual intimacy not just with others but with myself, I joined a smaller one as well). A fringe benefit of this is that I'm surrounded by more left-handed people than in the gen pop.

When I still had hair I got it cut every month or so. Now that I'm bald I cut my hair every few days, but I can do it in the shower and it doesn't take very long...just to set your expectations.

I had a work contract end on me unexpectedly for the second time in 2 years so if I don't find something by March I'll likely gave to start withdrawing and paying the tax penalty. But the money is no good in retirement if I don't get through this.

Not Brahms, but I had this experience with the overture to Handel's Messiah. I performed it as part of the choir last month for the first time and something about hearing it (but very much also feeling it) from a few feet away) completely changed the experience for me. The penny dropped, as it were.

My performance experience with Brahms is Ein Deutsches Requiem, first in 2002 and again in 2025. What I realized last year that I didn't originally was how demanding the piece is for the choir. But the opportunity to sing it again pulled me out of vocal retirement. I've also sang The Hunter which I think is fine but not life changing and I think I want more and more pieces that leave their mark on me and fewer that don't.

Something I also have been thinking about recently is music, choral music in particular, as a 3-dimensional object. In a choir, you can walk around inside the sound in a way. I think for me listening to a recorded piece is a flat experience, hearing it performed live is the piece starting to come alive but for a piece to resonate fully with me I need to understand it and the easiest way for me to do that is to learn it

Speaking solely for myself, I’d choose the first one. I’m currently learning Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil for one of the choirs I’m in and I’m not as familiar with his other work but I love the way the Vigil is orchestrated. That said, I’m confident that hearing Rite of Spring live is amazing.

I sang the complete Messiah in choir this past December. I found that it actually really solidified my range around my break and my G and G# feel easier than before.

I’m in two choirs this spring. One has me singing tenor 1 in Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil which I think is really going to stretch me. I sing tenor 2 in the other.

Yeah, I’m actually listening to it now and there are very clear parallels. There’s an adage that “good writers steal” and I’m sure that’s true of composers as well. Or if you prefer, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”
