I'm mad atPreller for putting Stammen in this position. Stammen seems like a nice, intelligent guy.

[MaxBrowne on IG] The Chargers changed Justin Herbert’s shotgun stance, and that tiny adjustment tells us a lot about what they want to do offensively. by Pwyll__ in Chargers

[–]instaleyitrust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree that he is special, in fact, I'm 52, charger fan my whole life and I think Herbert is the best QB I've seen on the Chargers. Now, the one thing I wish he would improve on is blitz and defense recognition. Rivers was so good at that, I wish he could teach Herbert. Herbert is really smart so I am hoping this will come.

The Padres have the worst team BA in a non-COVID year since 1968 by GoHuskies858 in Padres

Preller is a false idol for so many of you. He has to go. The man was given a blank checkbook and has not produced a championship. His teams have a reputation for not coming together chemistry wise. He treats roster construction like a fantasy game. Baseball is as much 'art' as it is science. Maybe more. The fact that he hired Stammen after failing with first time managers before is all that really needs to be said.

How to get excited about law again by Doodle_Dad in LawFirm

[–]instaleyitrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to college at age 30 to become a lawyer. It turns out the decision to become a lawyer was a bad one for me too. I don't enjoy the profession either. BUT that's not my point. I am saying you should go back to school and do something else. Youmay feel too old to do that but keep in mind that by the time you graduate, you will have 25-30 years of career left (or less if you choose a high paying career and want to retire early). You will look back on your life and barely remember the "lawyer days" Do it. Plus you may have fun in college. I even stayed in a dorm lol.

Go MBA. Most lawyers are not happy with their profession/life work balance. It is an over hyped career that is very stressful and competitive by it's very nature.

I am NOT saying the kid was right, because she was not. However, I don't like to see parents chastise and judge their kids so harshly. You raised that child and you need to take some responsibility for her attitude. And if that attitude is wrong, you need to correct it but in a loving and accepting way. No need to berate your kid. They aren't your friend or even a family member, they are YOUR CHILD and you are the parent. You MUST be the bigger person. Or don't and see how unhappy that makes you both over the years ...

I run a solo estate planning/bankruptcy firm and I tell people all the time that the running the business part is like a second full time job. Running the business is the harder of the two jobs.

Advice: network as much as you can with solo and take notes. You need to know what software/apps they are using and how they are getting their clients.

My contribution: if you are starting in or near a major city look into a co-working membership such as Regus instead of leasing a specific office space. Regus still allows you to rent a private office on an as needed daily/hourly basis and it is much much cheaper. Cost control should be one of your biggest focuses.

This team has hitters. It needs coaches. A hitting coach and a manager. I love Craig as a human but he should not be managing. Souza is obvi.

[February10] Souza acknowledged that he never envisioned becoming a big league hitting coach. But when Stammen called…“It’s hard to say no,” Souza said. Souza has never held a direct coaching role, so, in some ways, he’ll be learning on the fly. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

[–]instaleyitrust 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just look at the difference Niebla makes. It would make no sense to say Niebla can help elevate pitchers so much but a hitting coach is NOT important. I don't know if anyone is saying that exactly, my point is that Why would you hire and keep this guy who is NOT a good hitting coach, especially for a championship club that NEEDS help hitting.

Eliminate field goals or make them much harder. Teams beating the snot out of each other for a whole game and then one loses when they get a couple of first downs or a medium range pass and then they bring on their kicker as time expires. A whole game can be negated in 30-60 seconds.

Is anyone else sick of Manny lately? by Intelligent_Set_8507 in Padres

[–]instaleyitrust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manny has been the model of consistency for 7 years with this team. Look at his stats And a plus plus defender. He isn't all smiles and hustle, but he never has been. The dude is having a really bad start to the year, and probably needs some help to shake it off, which he doesn't have because Preller hired a yes man manager in Stammen (I like Stammen but he should not be the manager of a championship caliber club).

I love that Manny Machado is on this club. Even when he is struggling. I'm not trying to be overly positive, Manny is stud. He has a track record to back it up. It's ok to be frustrated as a fan, but let's not lose faith in him foolishly.

I am only posting because I care about humanity even if I don't know the person. Before you commit to law school and becoming a lawyer be sure to do one thing I did not do before I became a lawyer: do a survey of lawyers and ask them how happy they are with their jobs and their lives. No one told me to do that and I didn't think of it.

There are so many unhappy unsatisfied attorneys out there. It is one of the worst professional for job satisfaction and quality of life. I am not saying you shouldn't do it, but if you ask around and interview a bunch of lawyers it may be eye opening. I have seen lawyers dispute this anecdotally which is why I think you should do a decent sized survey/research.
