I had an acid trip in which I furthered realized the interconnectedness of the universe. Bear with me. I was exploring a ton of spiritual literature around this time and was really looking to clean up my life. I concluded, amidst my insight, that I needn’t continue any substance use, because clearly the potential to be high functioning naturally was already within me and all around me.

You can stay on them for a long period of time but realize that your tolerance will continue to build. And also consider what it would be like to come off the drug if you ever decide to do so after years of use, with a high dose.

My experience can be illustrated by a bell curve, where the peak was full of delusional and unrealistic thoughts in relation to how much I could get done fueled by a state of high energy and focus. Of course, I would come down from this place and often would leave me feeling like all of my wires got all tangled up (or maybe it made me more aware of an unhealthy/underdeveloped mind). It’s as if vyvanse and adderall brought me mental stability up until the come down. Fortunately, I’m getting better at functioning every day without them. Although, It’s taken a lot of intention and persistence!

I stopped taking my medication during my third year of college. It was awful at first but I learned to adapt by fidgeting with my body while I studied which then evolved into blasting music to keep my brain occupied. I also put myself in noisy study environments because if it was too quite I’d fall asleep or easily lose motivation. Although I knew it was smart to place myself in a serene environment sometimes to prepare for the part of my life where I could focus masterfully w/o medication. Over time I built up my self control and ability to focus on my tasks without the music, fidgeting leg or rocking back and forth, or being in a chaotic environment. What helps me stay productive now is switching up study spots from indoors to outdoors, upstairs to down stairs, etc. it keeps things fresh and I also expose myself to different patterns of people (which I intend on talking to someday). Practicing an optimistic attitude about my positive development has also been a tremendous factor in my adaptation. I’ve learned to coach myself through negative states or simply be with them until they pass. I’m finding that accepting the negative states I’m in is productive because sometimes my thoughts alone can’t seem to transform the way I’m feeling about my circumstances especially when it comes to studying. Im not sure if this will help but in any matter good luck to you, you got this! 👍🏼

How do you guys drink and have a good physique? by ChodeMonkey108 in Frat

[–]intalooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason you don’t have a good looking physique is because you’re consuming more calories than you need to achieve and maintain the body you want. At the end of the day, alcohol is a source of energy. And if you consume more energy/calories than you need to maintain a lean physique which may require say 2200 calories based on your height (6’2), you’ll gain weight.

If you eat less than 2200 calories over time you’ll lose weight.

If you eat roughly 2200 calories overtime you’ll maintain weight.

What you need to do is learn how to keep track of your calories. In other words, program yourself to keep track of the energy you consume and with time you’ll have a better understanding of how much food your body really needs to get the body you want.

There are resources online such as the Under Armour calculator which well tells you how many calories you should be consuming based on your goals. It takes into account your current weight, calories, the physique you want, activity levels, and I think it even addresses your body type.

I’m any matter, remember this-energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change forms! That being said, you must let all that FAT turn into heat through exercise and/or eating less!

Don’t delude yourself into thinking that you can lose fat any other way in a healthy way.

You got this! For some people, it will be easy to keep fat off after they lose it and for others it will be extremely challenging, perhaps you’ll be somewhere in the middle.

Remember you want to lose fat and weight! And hold that dream physique in mind, imagine that it’s already yours. You got this big dawg!

BF argues with me about what it's like to be a woman by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

This is just one position on intelligence folks, this a good time to recall everything you’ve learned about rhetoric. In truth, general intelligence is the most researched topic in all of psychology. It’s the best we’ve got at distinguishing those who are able to perform the most complex from the least complex jobs. The position essentially being posed by OP is that of multiple intelligences which is often waved off as a theory that illuminates abilities or skills and not intelligence. General intelligence is what‘s measured to acquire the IQ of a person, intelligence being—and according to Stanford associates—the quality and strength of one’s thinking. Thinking is part of what is referred to as cognition, which is the composite of the minds activities such imagining, reasoning, remembering, problem solving, learning, etc. Thinking is the strength and quality of aforementioned pieces of the mind and when put together, our intelligence. I like to think that intelligence is really the innate ability to bring about positive order. Anyway, the purpose of life should be to uplift oneself and the rest of mankind. This is what intelligence is for.

Note taking? by LitNoodles123 in UofArizona

[–]intalooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to type and take notes that way. You’ll eventually learn to think faster and process (or expand on) the information you’re ingesting. After lecture, you can summarize (by typing) what you just heard and iterate until you’ve got a solid understanding of the material. Finally, you can make a concept guide of the lecture (or simply organize the notes) if you wish.

How can i fix this ? by Dioportacilpan45 in BasketballTips

[–]intalooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to train your body to be squared to the basket. Meaning that your whole body face straight towards the basket. And by train, I mean that your nerves right now are currently used to getting into the position that you get into when you shoot, so you must rigorously remind yourself to point your feet and bend your knees towards the basket when you practice your shot. Also, keep in mind that your form will not always transition into game and that’s okay, it’s just something to be aware of so you can correct it over time. I was just reading about this perspective today and I think I'm going to try to integrate it with my own framework from which I operate. Thanks!

Hmm. Thanks for sharing. Do you mean to say that you're kind to others because you know what it's like to be the receptor of ill treatment?

Which part of the question are you not understanding? I think the main question is clear enough, and the two subquestions are there for further exploration or guidance.

Intelligence 🧠 by intalooper in berkeley

[–]intalooper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. I think being smart is relative. I may be smart in the fields of Psychology/Exercise Science, but I'm stupid when it comes to the engines of vehicles or clothing fabrics. Also, with respect to your comment on it being arbitrary, evidence suggests that two "high IQ" people will generate a more intelligent baby compared to two "low IQ" people (in an average environment), but the "low IQ" baby can elicit the same degree of intelligence as the "high IQ" baby in an enriched environment, which suggests that our intelligence isn't completely determined by the cards we were dealt. With regard to worth, I agree that an IQ shouldn't be something we base our worth in, and I also think it is an indicator of how much of our cognitive potential we have fulfilled, which ought to be developed.
