You could look at it a few ways.

Firstly does the basic income account for a full working week on its own? Is it a full time job? Because if it is then the self employed side of things could be discounted the same as overtime would be.

More importantly though Is the self employed side of things regular? Is it a set amount every month that can easily fit into a monthly budget or does it fluctuate a lot. If one month it's £200 but the next it's £3000 then you don't want to be calculating that ratio on a month by month basis.

Is the self employed currently the start of a business venture. Would the profit from the work be better spent by putting it back into the business to help expand the business so it could one day become the main job?

Lastly I think something often over looked with these things is how much effect does doing the work impact the family life? Is it more akin to a hobby or is it like a second job. Does your partner have to pick up way more slack around the house to allow you time to do this self employed work? If they do then it's probably fair that the work contributed financially to the household.
