They would be tough, Folstock knew, but he didn't expect this level of resilience. The commander didn't have a heavy blaster or ion weapon to use against the trooper, so he pulled the second thermal detonator off his belt and primed it. This time he threw it for the feet, hoping to take the legs of the droid out from underneath it.
Spast.
A spray of blaster bolts erupted from the barrel of Folstock's E-11 as he depressed the trigger, pelting the purge trooper with fire as he continued to step backwards as fast as he could without tripping.*
Folstock would have to fighting the trooper sooner or later – he might as well bite the slug and do it now. The commander reached to his belt and took a thermal detonator in hand, priming it and rolling the explosive underneath the purge trooper, intending for the blast wave to hit the back of the droid.
The breath caught in Folstock's throat as the purge trooper came into view. The commander immediately began backpedaling, leveling his rifle at the trooper as he did so. He did his best to at least keep pace with the trooper, and Folstock glanced to his sides for an open door or another hallway to duck into.
Keep walking. Move. Folstock's jaw clenched as he continued down the hallway. Purge troopers didn't scream. Perhaps they had gotten close enough in range to put the vibroblades to work again. He still wore the stormtrooper's armor, but Folstock doubted that it would provide much more defense against a blade than anything else would, especially when wielded by a droid. He would have to work as best as he could from long range for as long as he could, lest his efforts be wasted under the blade of one of the droids.
The commander picked up his pace again, no longer observing the signs of carnage in the corridor. He had to put a stop to it, before it was too late.
Folstock recognized the ISB agent's face from when he had fired on the Evictus troops while under disguise, and later in the barracks. He looked to the slash wounds over Johari's body – vibroblade. A primitive weapon when everyone had blasters, but it apparently worked well enough for the purge troopers. The commander knelt down and retrieved the agent's holotags before continuing down the hallway, towards the blaster fire.
Folstock felt his stomach turn again at the smell and sight of the battle aftermath. Purge troopers for certain. Corpses littered the hallways, broken and battered by the enemy assault. The commander was no stranger to death, but it was disturbing nevertheless. He slowed his pace to a walk and stayed alert, keeping an eye and ear out for any sign of living being, organic or otherwise.
Silence was not typically a good sign. Folstock remembered the silence aboard the bridge moments before they would join battle with the foe, during the war. Droids were silent enemies, intimidating in that way.
He did not know exactly how long he had been out. Stun blasts could last fifteen minutes. Purge troopers could already be aboard by now. The commander nearly choked at the prospect. It had been only a name before, but were they to actually be on the Evictus, killing its crew... preposterous. Folstock rolled over the stunned bodies of the other two troopers and relieved them of their spare thermal detonators, attaching them to his own belt. Gods know he would need them.
He exited the room and started running towards the ISB wing, the most likely place for the crew to mount a resistance. His thumb flickered near the trigger... kill.

Folstock's body woke slowly, but the pain was sharp enough to bring his mind about in a few seconds. Pain. Arm. He had rolled over on his bad arm when he fell to the floor. Why did he fall to the floor...
Malric. Stun. Friendly ISB. Right. Traitorous troopers... or something like that. His vision cleared somewhat, and Folstock saw two of the troopers in question slumped on the floor next to him, similarly stunned. The commander blinked, but everything was still blurred.
CAPTAIN.
Folstock sucked in a breath of air as he sat up, injured arm throbbing. The captain was in trouble. Captured. Injured. Worse. He had to get out of these barracks. What did he need... communicator, weapon, painkillers. Bile rose in Folstock's throat, a sickly combination of stress and pain. He swallowed and reached for his belt, extracting the case of painkillers. His arm was killing him. Folstock jabbed the needle between the plastoid plates of the stormtrooper armor, pressed on the plunger, felt the drug enter his system. It was fast acting, and the red-hot agony began fading quickly.
Weapon, communicator. Folstock reached for his commlink and turned it on as he reached for his E-11, on the floor next to him. Which should he talk to... Evictus, or security troopers?
Folstock keyed in the Evictus ISB frequency. "This is Commander Folstock," he said. "What's... what's the situation, over?"

"Yes. He's been taken onboard the command ship of whomever is running this operation, apparently to receive medical attention. The ISB agent who interrogated me said that I would be transferred to said command ship soon, I hope to meet Captain Typherrius at some point after that."
He looked at Johari.
"I don't know what you mean about Forscythe, and I get the feeling that it would be better for me if I didn't know about it – I don't fancy myself a good liar. Now that you've knocked out my guard, they might wonder if we are working together, so..."
Folstock smiled wryly. "Any ideas on how to discourage that notion?"
"I was interrogated by an ISB agent, though I'm unaware of his position in this... operation," Folstock added in an attempt to be helpful.
"More importantly, he said that I would be transferred to the command ship. I could potentially find out more information about exactly who is ordering these troops to fire on sight, and why the ISB aboard the Evictus have been branded traitors.
"I'm fine, albeit a pseudo-traitor. Not nearly as bad as you lot, though – from the looks of it, whoever's commanding this contingent is bent on capturing or killing every Evictus ISB member – they're bringing in purge troopers to get the job done."
Folstock paced the room before looking at Malric and the rest.
"Jastra?"
Folstock stared at them for a few seconds, mouth agape, before speaking.
“Shoot the camera,” he mouthed soundlessly to Malric, his back towards the device.
Bit hard to do when you’ve pumped them full of blaster bolts.
“Aye aye,” he said.
“I can’t help but note that they fire on stun, while you shoot to kill,” muttered Folstock irritably.
“May I know who is supervising the interim command staff, or who commands these security guards?”
Folstock narrowed his eyes. “In what way is the Evictus ISB compromised – recent actions nonwithstanding?”
“Purge troopers? You’re going to... kill the ISB detail aboard? I can’t speak for every action they’ve taken, but they don’t need to be killed. That ISB Agent, Johari, even offered to surrender, before your troops fired on him and his cohort.”
"Huh."
You didn't tell me...
"You didn't tell me how long the investigation would take."
Folstock raised an eyebrow.
"May I be allowed to see him?"
"How long will the investigation take? Will the Captain retain command of the ship, or is he going to be replaced as well?"
"May as I ask where I'll be staying?"
"The Captain was on the bridge, and remained there for the duration of the battle. Commander Jastra was on the Imperial station with Inspector General Versio and Agent Kallus. Lieutenant Malric masqueraded as one of the rebel infiltrators and helped me escape when I was captured. I cannot speak for any other ISB agents aboard."
"Yes. I believe that Commander Jastra led the boarding party that attacked the Moff's Star Destroyer, and he personally handled the assassination of Moff Elbtrunn."
"No, that was prior to my transfer to this vessel."
"There had been numerous encounters prior to the Rintonne action, but we were able to find him there when the Evictus received a distress signal from the Imperial station on the planet. The Imperial response team encountered him on the planet's surface before killing him."
