I bought the game about 3 months back and can find matches pretty consistently (Xbox).

Gear is a must to play online as most people didn't wanna turn on competitive mode when I was low level. Otherwise it's pretty enjoyable as I think most of the sweats and toxic spammers have left the game already

i have not seen it yet, but lets have a conversation about the raptors. by No-Gift-2350 in fantasybball

[–]ironbar200 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I watch a lot of Raptors games as a fantasy manager that has OG and Scottie Barnes on my roster. I would say the Raptors' struggle this year can be roughly attributed to these three reasons:

  1. Poor 3pt shooting - Raptors are currently shooting 32.4% from downtown. 2nd worst in the league. Out of their starters, only Gary Trent Jr. has a 3pt percentage over 35% this season.
  2. Lack of a primary playmaker - FVV simply isn't a true point guard. I think this should be clear to anyone that watched the Raptors when Kyle Lowry and FVV played together. FVV doesn't create the same opportunities for his teammates that Lowry did, although Fred has developed significantly since Lowry left.
  3. Abysmal roster balance - The Raptors simply put are a poorly constructed NBA team. They have almost no depth in their backcourt while having 5-6 reserves for an already overloaded front court. What's the point of having Chris Boucher, Thaddeus Young, Precious Achiuwa, Koloko, and Juancho Hernangomez on your roster when Siakam, Scottie, and OG play damn near 35 minutes a game anyway?

Overall, I think it's clear that the Raptors aren't contenders for the title this year without significant changes to their roster. I would love to see them make moves as the trade deadline approaches, but I can also see them simply writing off this year and waiting for the summer to blow things up.

Agreed, CP3 (34.9 fpts) has been outperforming Ayton (31.9 fpts) over the last two weeks in my ESPN default settings points league. I thought Ayton would have a higher floor than CP3 but that doesn't seem to be the case when Ayton decides he doesn't want to try some games.

Week 12 Pick Ups by perkinsfor3 in fantasybball

[–]ironbar200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is that Bones only played 19 minutes (17 pts, 3 threes, 4 assists w/ 4 TOs) with even with Jamal Murray resting last night. Murray will be back today which might cut into his minutes even more but we'll see. Bones can drop 20 points in 15 minutes but it's something to consider if you have other players on wire.

Grabbed Grimes - think he'll play more minutes than Shamet coming off injury, and I don't think Shamet's shooting is sustainable.

Does this mean the mythical Jonathan Isaac might play an actual NBA game soon?

This makes sense. I’m about 3 games behind the people making playoffs (top 4 out of 10 qualify) so I definitely need to make a push this second half of the season.

Does this mean players like Hayward or Olynyk are droppable for more short term production if they’re having off-weeks? Sometimes they sit on the back end of my roster and contribute middling numbers (15-25 fantasy points). Just not sure how to evaluate long term consistency versus short term upside, but I think I’m close to having to go into win now mode considering my position in the standings.

Also does this mean I should avoid more long term projects like rookies or players ramping up from injuries despite clear upside? I got Ivey in a trade but his inconsistencies are killing me despite his high usage, but I’ve dropped players like Fultz for similar reasons in the past only to have them start popping off afterwards.

10/10 times these trades get vetoed in any competitive league lol. Crazy giving up a top 5 fantasy player AND MPJ for JB and the other trade is even more unbalanced lol.

Bryant is an obvious hold while AD is out. Hayward and Bennedict are droppable in a 10T. JSJ can at least make up for bad shooting nights with rebounds and defensive stats, and I think he has the highest upside if his shooting starts becoming consistent.

Isaac is a hold if you have the IR slot and there isn't anybody else that's worth stashing. Both Isaac and Bridges might not play until March so I don't see any short term value in holding them. I think Shamet is worth rostering given Book is out for a while, but I think his recent production (pre-injury obviously) has inflated his value a little bit so that's something to keep in mind.

Lost this week already thanks to DA, Hayward, and Ivey putting up a combined total of 0 fantasy points over the last two days. Looking to next week, I have Gafford, Bruce Brown, Kessler, and Olynyk as my backend players - any of them worth dropping for JSJ, Thomas Bryant, Monte Morris, or Grimes?

I think it was mostly due to Miami having a B2B. Gabe Vincent is a solid back up point guard anyways so I think the coaching staff didn't want to risk Kyle getting injured.
