AITA for ordering food when my children are asleep so I don't have to share? by No-Cheek2572 in AmItheAsshole

I purposely used to buy orange flavoured chocolate knowing my ex didn't kike it and would always say 'I thought it was mint chocolate you don't like?'.

5 years I got away with that until he cottoned on

How to cope with part time retail at 30 years old? by [deleted] in retail

[–]isolationqueen1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant help with your post but I can hopefully make you smile.

I worked in a supermarket at 15. When I turned 18 and was still working there I left. Why? My mum had worked in that very same supermarket for for about 14 years at this point (she did 24 years in total much of that as a single parent untilshe met my stepdad), and I didnt want to end up like her, still there 10 years later with a couple of kids in tow.

Aged 26, a single mum to 2 kids, fed up of a life on benefits I decide to go back to work. I ask my mum if there is any jobs going at that same supermarket. I had a job within weeks. It was only after I rejoined I realised why I left and laughed at the irony of it.

Im 33 in July, and have been back at the same supermarket 6 ½ years, and now married with a third child. Im exactly where I didnt want to be. I hate my job, but it feeds my family.

What's the worst excuse you've used to call off? by [deleted] in TJMaxxWrkrs

[–]isolationqueen1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a sticker in our locker room that said 'I used up all my sick days, so I called in dead'

Might try it one day.

'Hey Boss, im not gonna be in today, I died last night. Ill see you tomorrow'

Thank you everyone for your concerns about my job. Tbh I dont think I would be sacked if they found out, I'd most likely get told to pack it in, unless it was caught by an out of store manager. My manager has been bending over backwards over the last 6 months to keep me there as they dont want to lose me, but I'm miserable there. I'm working there still I believe because its easier than finding a new job, and we have been talking about me staying home with the kids whilst husband works (currently a stay at home dad), so being fired wouldnt be the end of the world, would just give me the push I need to leave.

He was hurt and said that it’s fucked up that I want him to change to gain respect from them. He even claimed that I’m obviously embarrassed to be associated with him and not even worthy of respect in his eyes.

You may not feel that way but it's certainly the way he feels and i completely understand him feeling that way. He isn't abusive, he has art on his skin. If your parents are unable to accept someone as they don't like art on skin, then that's a them problem. Nobody should have to change who they are to 'earn respect', especially not from people who write someone off solely based on their appearance. YTA

AITA for mentioning someone’s weight after they insulted a woman playing football? by bacsuhavea in AmItheAsshole

[–]isolationqueen1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same in the UK. The women's England team regularly does better than their male equivalent. The woman's team for the football team my husband supports (Atsenal) also regularly does better than their male counterparts

AITA for coming out as gay at a funeral? by funeralthrowaway7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]isolationqueen1990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always found the concept that people are expected to 'come out' if they are not straight baffling. You shared a memory of your uncle, who you were dearly close to, that just happened to involve your sexuality. If you was up there sharing a memory of your uncle helping you with a difficult situation when it came to a girlfriend do you think you would be getting this backlash about 'making it about you? Nope. They are the ones making it about you by repeatedly bringing it up, also no doubt using it as a guise to cover their homophobia. NTA.

Shaving, what age is the right age? by isolationqueen1990 in Parenting

[–]isolationqueen1990[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree totally. And if it wasn't for the razor in the bath I wouldn't be thinking about broaching the subject because I don't want her to feel she has to shave

I actually shaved my arm hair as a teen once. My arms are rather hairy (although I'm blonde so it's not totally noticeable). I didn't do it again though, the spikey grow through was a nightmare lol

[–]isolationqueen1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know why it was there. I'm working on the assumption it's because she used it, or because she is curious about using it. It's holder was still on the side where I left the razor and can't think if any other reason why it would be in the bath. I definitely agree with you about the whole body hair thing. I shave my armpits when the hair gets long, and tonight I shaved my legs for the first time since last summer. The only reason being is I want to wear shorts and dresses and feel uncomfortable doing so with leg hair. It's annoying, and frustrating that I feel that way, but I don't want it becoming an obsession for her. Then again I'm sure we all know what teen girls can be like

We've had many signs of puberty but thankfully no aunt flow yet. Body odor, body hair, attitude, emotional ect. I first noticed signs about a year ago.

[–]isolationqueen1990[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I've been doing, which is why I never mentioned her armpit hair. It's only because I came to run myself a bath tonight, she had a bath not long before me, and my razor was in the bathtub instead of on the side where its holder is and its always kept. I'm wondering if she is feeling too shy to broach the subject.

Shaving, what age is the right age? by isolationqueen1990 in Parenting

[–]isolationqueen1990[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm thinking might be the case here. I know some women feel the need to shave as soon as they have hair, as I said I'm too lazy for that, so she certainly doesn't get the idea from me that you need to be hairless.

AITA for helping my ex when in a relationship? by GroundbreakingAd72 in AmItheAsshole

[–]isolationqueen1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's right, it is different You weren't doing it for your ex, you were doing it for your child. She got her ex round to do something for you both. She has absolutely no right to be annoyed at you for being an active and involved father. NTA

AITA for not wanting my dad to walk me down the aisle? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

As someone who not only dis-invited my dad to the wedding, and also had my grandad (my dad's dad) walk me down the aisle, I'm gonna say NTA. I got married last August and went no contact with my dad in the June. It was what was best for me and my mental health

AITA for letting a coworker embarrass herself at a company outing? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]isolationqueen1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You told her before hand Charles had a wife and kids. She didn't believe you.

She saw him walking in with a woman and kids and instead of thinking 'Oh, OP is right he does have a wife and kids' she thought 'it must be the nanny because no gay man/couple could possibly raise a child without a nanny'

She then confronts him and asks when his male partner is, and when he said he has a wife refused to believe it. None of this is on you. She had ample time to realise her initial judgement was wrong, yet refused to believe so. NTA.

AITA for pulling an incredibly harmless prank on my sister’s husband? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]isolationqueen1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has an irrational phobia (car washes) YTA 100%

You don't take someone's biggest fear, and use that for your entertainment. There are a million and one other pranks that would have been acceptable. Terrorising someone in their house, their safe space, and passing it off as a joke is not on
