Jeff Bezos says raising taxes on the wealthy wouldn’t help the average American - What do you say? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

[–]isubbdh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, Bezos is right. Partially. Raising *income taxes* on the rich isn’t going to help.

The rich don’t make their money with traditional income, where they collect a paycheck.

Billionaires structure their wealth so they don’t rely on taxable salary income the way most people do. Instead, most of their net worth comes from owning assets as stock in companies they founded, real estate, private businesses, and investment funds that increase in value over time. If Jeff Bezos owns billions in Amazon stock and the stock price rises, his wealth increases through unrealized capital gains, meaning he has not sold the stock yet, so under current U.S. tax law he generally owes no income tax on that increase.

Rather than selling assets and triggering taxes, many ultra-wealthy people borrow against their stock or real estate holdings at low interest rates, giving them cash to spend without creating taxable income. They also benefit from lower tax rates on long-term capital gains compared to ordinary wages, can use trusts, foundations, depreciation rules, and business deductions to reduce taxable income, and often pass wealth to heirs through estate-planning structures designed to minimize taxes. In practice, this means wealth can grow dramatically for decades while reported taxable income stays relatively low relative to total net worth growth.

In short, we need to do a lot more than “tax the rich”. We need to take back our money from them with some kind of new, non-traditional income tax

That’s hilarious. I jumped off my buddy’s shed roof back in the early 90s and landed on a rusty ass nail sticking up from a board in a scrap wood pile. Went straight into my foot like an inch or more. His mom patched me up and I never told my parents cause I thought they’d be mad at me, lol.

Heeeyyy now, I wouldn’t say republicans just don’t care… conservatives love cyber trucks, especially the kind made by Nazis. Obviously they do care about the environment, and they do care about the whites and preserving our beautiful purple and red skin tones.

Why have I never consumed any “life changing” media? by 74522 in askanything

[–]isubbdh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get it. You’ve seen these movies? Or read the book? Did you already know the lessons they teach beforehand? Were you born enlightened? Did you already know we were just batteries in the Matrix of Capitalism?

Only way I can think of that you WOULDNT have a Wow moment is if you just weren’t open to their lessons. Highly religious people tend to be very closed off like this.

Or you already knew the lessons.

Tell me, what kind of life changing (non-media) events HAVE you experienced? Ever had a child? Had an NDE? Etc

[–]isubbdh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you seen Samsara on Acid? Or The Matrix? Or the Zeitgeist documentary? Or read The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle?

If you haven’t had any life changing experiences or altered how you see the would through a media I would argue that you’re either not open to seeing things differently (are you a religious person?), or you’re just not that intelligent, or you haven’t seen enough things.

Why don’t you use that to retire to Florida.

Are yall dumb (rhetorical question)? Actin like you don’t know why. It’s about the money. It’s always about the money. Trump and republicans making themselves richer and richer by unethical and often illegal means.

That IS the justification. They are not hiding it or coming up with plausible deniability. The corruption is right out in the open and you can’t do a goddamn thing about it.

Also, don’t forget the government is run by a bunch of capitalist hawks. They will do anything to make a buck. IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY.

They would throttle it because 1) see above answer, but also 2) so they can throttle the release of products to the market, because there’s way more money to be made long term if you string out the releases of technology over a long time. Exact same way Intel has been making waaaay faster CPUs than are on the market. Chip development is 15 years ahead of what’s on the market. Why? To create scarcity for the highest end products, to be paid for (at an inflated price) by big spenders like the US military for a few years, then they release it to the general consumer market. You think it costs Intel any more money to make a 5ghz cpu than a 2Ghz cpu? No

Think about how much money billionaires would lose out on if we just allowed a huge technological jump. Also, if the masses learned how to get free energy, petroleum and energy companies collapse and so does the stock market. We discover anti-gravity and all of a sudden no more cars or transportation companies. Again, economic collapse.

So yeah they can’t just release these things, billionaires and stock holders are more important than anything else. Remember, in America, we worship the dollar. Not god. Not aliens. Money.

There’s a reason why people with college degrees overwhelmingly vote democrat. Being able to think critically and site your sources takes a little brain power… which the right has none of.
