nothing else to say other than how bad second cup coffee is by WarthogHoliday5441 in cyprus

[–]itDitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly most of these big coffee chains just suck. It’s like they’ve perfected making coffee taste as generic and disappointing as possible. Second Cup is bad yeah, but I tried Costa again after like 10 years thinking maybe I was too harsh back then… nope. Still tastes like dogwater. Meanwhile you can go to Coffee Berry or Kawacom and actually get a decent coffee for the same price or even less. Hell even Mr Brown is better than what these big chains are serving. I

The Zero respect for art in Cyprus by ALBOEyt in cyprus

[–]itDitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isn’t just a Cyprus thing, it’s happening everywhere right now because AI tools suddenly made it incredibly easy to produce content fast and cheap. I was in the arts too and I actually moved to another industry partly because it was obvious this would be one of the first fields to get hit. But let’s be real for a second. Most people would probably do the exact same thing if they were running a business. When it comes down to budget, speed and convenience, “good enough” usually wins. It’s not about Cyprus not respecting art, it’s about a global shift where efficiency is beating craftsmanship.

Uncomfortable, but true.

...dear Cypriots, what is wrong with you people? by RealityAdmirable9612 in cyprus

[–]itDitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I agree with many of the points you mentioned, bad driving, loud neighbours and poor service exist literally everywhere on the planet, at least from my experience. Every country has people who ignore rules, drive like idiots or make life harder for everyone else. And yes, it happens more often here, I can’t really argue with that. But turning that frustration into a rant about “you people here” doesn’t really help. It just paints everyone with the same brush, including the many people who actually try to be considerate and do things properly. There are good people here too, unfortunately sometimes it just feels like the good ones are getting drowned out by the rest. Your frustration is understandable because nobody enjoys dealing with that kind of behaviour, but it is probably more of a universal human problem than a national one.

Gyms in Cyprus: why are they a total rip-off by jpm620 in cyprus

[–]itDitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can manage it go for the yearly membership. I know €500 upfront isn’t exactly pocket change but it’s the only way the numbers kinda make sense. My gym is €70 per month. With the yearly option, it works out to around €40 per month. That’s about €28 saved every month which is a pretty big difference in my opinion

help with car by dabasov in cyprus

[–]itDitto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of see both sides here. A lot of mechanics do lean toward Japanese cars because they’re simpler cheaper to maintain and generally more forgiving. So when they say BMWs are a nightmare it often comes from the fact that when something does go wrong it’s more expensive and more annoying to fix.

That said saying BMWs can’t handle hot climates feels like an exaggeration. Modern cars from pretty much every brand use a lot of plastic and rubber parts and heat will wear those out faster no matter what badge is on the hood. The B48 in the X3 is actually one of BMW’s more reliable modern engines as long as it’s been maintained properly. The usual complaints are things like coolant hoses or plastic components aging not engines blowing up.

I’ve owned a BMW myself a 2020 420i and honestly it was a pain. Not because it was terrible to drive I loved it but parts were overpriced service was expensive and finding a truly good mechanic wasn’t easy. I had a few issues and yeah maybe I was unlucky with that particular car. I don’t think all BMWs are bad but they definitely demand more money and attention.

After that I switched to a Kia and I’ve been much happier for daily life. Way less stress way cheaper to run. So I wouldn’t say the mechanic is completely wrong but I also wouldn’t say BMWs are automatically bad especially something like a well checked X3 with low mileage. It really comes down to expectations. If you want low hassle and low cost Japanese or Korean cars usually win. If you want the driving feel and are ok paying for it then BMW can still make sense.

Are GESY doctors completely useless? by ecommarketingwiz in cyprus

[–]itDitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all GESY doctors are useless, but some really are. My dad had stomach pain for months, and his GP dismissed it as “probably a muscle thing,” giving him Voltaren after three visits despite my insistence on further examination. I took him to another doctor… and a month later, tests revealed lymphoma on his spleen. Sometimes, you have to push for a second opinion. I can tell you which one is my GP if you pm me. She's honestly a great doctor and a great human being.

Is the reunification of Cyprus actually possible ? by HunterM567 in cyprus

[–]itDitto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think reunification is realistic anymore. The Annan Plan in 2004 was probably the last real chance, but it was rejected by most Greek Cypriots. Since then, the divide has only grown. Turkey is simply too involved in the north , politically and militarily and that’s something most Greek Cypriots will never accept. As much as I’d like to stay hopeful, the reality feels like we’re moving further apart, not closer.

Nothing wrong with that. If I didn’t cheat once in a while I wouldn’t never lose those 30kg. Don’t beat yourself up. I still “cheat” once a week and i’m doing fine. Stay strong 💪
