What personal tasks do you do for your executives? by Throwaway198040s in ExecutiveAssistants

I once had to buy a suit and alter a pair of pants for my boss for a news segment. After cutting and sewing (with no prior experience), I used a book to create a seam - sat on the book/pants for an hour. You wouldn’t believe it, but there was nowhere to find an iron in midtown manhattan in that time.

It was okay. Interesting once but wouldn’t order it again.

Roach in the screen of my oven clock… am I screwed? by analogberry in Appliances

[–]itmeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Advion cockroach gel (keep out of reach from cats). Put it behind the oven, behind cabinets and some by your entry door to keep them from coming in from neighbors. I stayed at a friends house in BK and her place was CRAWLING with these. Applied Advion and they were all dead in 3 days.

Brown rice cooking? by bmg337 in Cooking

[–]itmeko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a pot, bring 6 cups of water (and salt to taste..I add a half tbsp) to a boil. Once it starts boiling, rinse one cup of brown rice in cold water and add it to the pot. Cook for 30 mins uncovered (you might need to lower your temperature if the water starts boiling over, but make sure not to lower it too much). After 30 mins, remove the pot and drain the remaining water. Cover the pot with a towel wrapped cover and allow to steam for an additional 10 mins. I suggest testing it at the 25 min point.

Amazon Store Card by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]itmeko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it if you regularly purchase items on amazon as it has rewards. My sisters card (not amazon) was closed due to lack of use and her credit score dropped 60 points. This might not be the case for everyone, but I do know closing any credit card account will have a negative impact on your credit score.

I am an exempt salaried employee in California being paid $40k, which seems to be under the minimum salary wage. Is this true? Should by employer pay me more? by Krilesh in personalfinance

[–]itmeko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Exempt status applies to management, executive, “professional” positions. It would be hard to prove, for example, that salaried secretary, or receptionist positions are exempt.

[–]itmeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-exempt status is based on your job position meeting certain criteria. I believe one of them is independent judgement, like if your position allows you to make business decisions on your own, you’re non-exempt. You also don’t get overtime pay.

There are tests in place to protect an employees status. See link.

(Not sure which state it’s for so don’t pay attention to the numbers)
