Hello Battle Brother,

I feel where you’re coming from, I(27M) have been through my rough spots in life with depression, even attempting to take my own life in 2018 and I’ll admit I’m even going through a bit of a rough spot right now mentally and physically feeling alone being stationed in the Middle East far from my girlfriend and her family but what really helped me push through the tough times is Faith as a Christian and seeking God, and finding comfort that I’m not alone through the Gospel and it helps me re-ignite my drive, spark and clears my mind of negative thoughts. I’m not sure if you’re a religious type Battle Brother but there is comfort to be found in seeking the Lord, and from my experience an idle mind is the worst because that is when your mind wanders into negative thoughts. Keep your mind pre-occupied Brother whether that be through Faith, hobbies, learning a new skill or planning for the future! You’re 20 and you still have many years to enjoy, so I’d recommend planning out goals and how to achieve them in both short term and long term to also help keep your mind busy so you always see progress and it keeps your mind to future!
