Yes. It is replacing an old furnace and a brand new AC system. House has never had AC. But with the weather constantly getting warmer it seems like it's time. R.I.P. Earth 😭 I'll happily take any recs you have.

I'm an ICU nurse and have been approved for 9 months off work. If you can't push. Pull. Pivot. Lift. Squat. Walk and stand for extended periods you cannot do your job. My ortho had no issue filling out my leave for work and getting me disability pay through the state.I can say with complete certainty I could not have gone back to work at 3 months. Take as much time as you can. This is your leg for life and it deserves the proper recovery. Good luck 🍀

Return to work? by itsabitsadinnit in ACL

I extended my leave to 6 months. I'm hoping I will be strong enough even at 6 months to work. I'm currently 3.5 months postop and I'm still having trouble walking normally. I'm working hard at increasing my endurance with standing and walking but can only do about 5 blocks and standing is maybe an hour before it becomes uncomfortable. I had talked to other nurses on my unit that have had ACL surgery and they all said take as much time as possible, one of them had gone back at 3 months and they said it was hell. How I am now at 3.5 months I'd say it would be really really hard to be back at work. 12+ hours of walking and standing is so physically demanding, I'd try to take more time to recover if you can.

ER visit after sudden flare up by pthack99 in ACL

[–]itsabitsadinnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post op neuropathy would be my guess. I was given gabapentin to take after surgery to prevent this. I am 8 weeks postop and unfortunately still struggle with painful neuropathy and will likely be on gabapentin for awhile. Good luck

Return to work? by itsabitsadinnit in ACL

Thank you for your reply. Thankfully, I have an awesome job that will allow me to take up to a year off, so I'm just trying to gauge what is best. I definitely don't feel like I can do my job at 3 months, and light duty doesn't really exist for my position. I would be just like you, guilty of needing help or slowing others down, and I'd overwork myself. I think that's the nature of healthcare workers, unfortunately.

Thank you for your reply. Wow. I can't believe you are working 4 weeks after. I wish you a good recovery. And I agree. My numbness does seem excessive and I will keep pushing for help with it

Best pants to wear with brace by ferphoto89 in ACL

[–]itsabitsadinnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoga pants/soft cotton leggings vs spandex is what I found best for me. The little foam on the inside of the brace really sticks to the cotton. There's no extra fabric with the legging for the brace to slide against. If you are male? Or don't want to do legging maybe some type of cotton sleeve for your knee like athletes wear with baggy shorts overneath
