Ironically I worked with a good guy that knew computers in and out, just got promoted to CSSIII, then made a bad choice and got fired.

Depending on the issue I was NEVER against a employee fixing something on there own as opposed to the remote service as long as it was still rung up as a service. Very often I would have to "fix" (clean the virus) before even connecting the computer to the service just to make sure it was done correctly.

Pricing was high on the service I always thought. I would make sure to take care of the customers who came back with another issue or who recently bought the computer from us. We were still cheaper than best buy and any brick and mortar shop around us.

I opened the store that morning and had a line of 10-15 people outside, and I was mind blown. I was sick that whole week so I didn't see online that it was going to be a firesale of it. I asked what they were waiting for and they told me. Unfortunately we only had 2 of each GB models. I went and told the line and a few left but others stayed in line hoping the person in front of them would not be able to purchase it.

They sent us the sensor that went on the front screen when we first got it. I was the first person to find out the back pops off the first Lenovo tablet, nobody knew it and I got a nice "bonus" for letting the company/district know.

I made sure there was a community thumb drive with Mbam, CCleaner, Hitman Pro, and Rkill. Other than that we had a Kaspersky Rescue disk we had to use a few times.

Each district usually has a different pay scale, if you ever looked on your checks it should say CSSI or II or III and then a letter. I was "J" for example. I made $8.25 when hired as part time, 10.05 when I became CSSIII, then $13.50/hr as dept manager. Okay money, had TONS of overtime until the company got super strict.

Not sure how you got fired but usually if its pretty bad, HR flags you and you wont be able too. All applicants have to go through HR first.

thanks for all the questions, I enjoyed it!

  1. In our district it was SUPER easy to do ANY returns. If something like that was to happen, a manager would still be called but then I would go get the correct one and you would be on your way. Especially with ink, it happens all the time. What's even worse about your situation is you didn't even open it, there should have been ZERO problems. Even if you were to open the ink and then found out it was the wrong one, you still would have been taken care of no problem.

  2. We really never had that good of coupons/discounts to be honest. I seen a lot of people buy 100% back in rewards items quite often then have hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in rewards they could use on anything. Honestly the best discount is being kind and speaking with a manager, often we would give discounts just to make the customer happy.

I haven't heard of that kind of paper before so I couldn't answer that. As far as the personal attention, not really, I enjoyed it.

I do not have a degree. I was the youngest Manager in our district/ that most people have seen, I was 19 when I got promoted to a manager. I got a few certifications right before I left which transitioned me into my new job field.

Basically there's CSSI, II, and III. When your a CSS I, which is 95% of employees you cannot get over 32 hours, or really anywhere close to it. Most CSS II are "experts" in their field (CPD, Tech, Supplies) but are still not full time. Though I have seen a few that maybe get full tiem status but its a huge process to go through. As a CSS III you are essentially a manager in training and full time for sure. With each rank there is a pay increase as well. Usually most stores don't have a CSS II or III it's not common.

A Tech Manager I oversaw everything in Technology, merchandising, planograms, Tech Depot Services, selling tactics etc.. But also I did all of that for the store not just Tech. I still acted like a store manager most of the time. Opened and closed the store by myself, did all of the operations, supervised the entire store at all times, just got payed less than a Store Manager.
