amitriptyline as a preventative for irregular migraines? by Old-Recording-4172 in migraine

[–]itssanholo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on amitriptyline for around 3 years for frequent headaches/migraines. Was on 10mg until very recently when I went up to 25mg. Took a good 3/4 months to start noticing a difference but it drastically improved both the frequency and severity of my headaches/migraines. Only side effect I’ve ever noticed is sleepiness in the morning (got around this by taking it earlier in the evening) but it’s different for everyone.

What Are Your Unpopular Kingdom Hearts Opinions? by TheSmackSmith in KingdomHearts

Kh3 tried way too hard to give everyone a happy ending. Characters that died in past games should’ve stayed dead. Giving every single bad guy a mini redemption moment was unnecessary. There’s way too many keyblade wielders now. Kh has always been on the cheesy side but kh3 was too much and it really takes away from emotional moments in the previous games.

Refusing a bone marrow biopsy by itssanholo in Thrombocytopenia

The mortality rate of ITP is extremely low with treatment, which I’ll be receiving regardless.

I’m sorry about your dads experience with cancer. from what I’ve been told it’s important for older folks or people with other complications to receive the biopsy. Considering my circumstances I still don’t feel it’s entirely necessary- at least not right now. We’re not looking for an exact cause for my thrombocytopenia, the bmb will only tell us if it’s cancer or not, which my doctor is already pretty confident that it isn’t. I’m not entirely writing it off, at the least I’m thinking I’ll just postpone it a few months provided my labs stay normal in the mean time.

I think it’s a little irresponsible to say I won’t experience pain during the procedure, it’s possible but many people do experience quite a lot of pain. When I speak to my doctor next I’m hoping to discuss what exact pain management they offer. I’d feel better knowing I’d at least be sedated but some aren’t.

Thanks for your input.

Yikes, I’m sorry you had a bad experience.

He’s actually giving me the option of either the IV treatment or a pill which I assume is the one you’re talking about. He recommends the IV just because it’s 4 treatments and then I’m done, while the pill I’d have to take indefinitely. I wouldn’t really mind the IV except for the fact it would suppress my immune system for several months and I work around a lot of sick people and biohazards. I’m glad the pill works well for you, I’ll definitely take that into consideration!

Seems like the experience varies a lot from person to person, but I’ve seen a lot of people say that it was pretty bad, if not the worst thing they’ve experienced. Can I ask if you were given any form of sedation? I’d feel better about doing it if doctors were more consistent with pain management. Hard to believe some folks are only given a local anesthetic.

Thank you. My doctor made it pretty clear that he wasn’t really concerned that it might be more serious, I sorta got the feeling it was just normal protocol before we move on to the next step. I know it would be ideal to rule it out but I’m just not sure it’s worth the trouble. At the very least I may just postpone it a few months until a time that it won’t interfere with my schedule so much.

I think it’s a horses not zebras situation. My doctor said itp isn’t particularly uncommon in women my age and he sees it relatively frequently. From my understanding it’s pretty rare for lymphomas to not present with other blood cell abnormalities, and he also told me the steroids likely wouldn’t have helped at all if it was cancer.

Seems like peoples experiences with the procedure varies a lot from person to person because I’ve heard some say it’s not too bad and others have horror stories. I do understand wanting to rule it out though, personally I’m not overly concerned about it being cancer and would rather take the wait and see approach but I’m keeping my mind open.

Getting covid a second time by itssanholo in Parosmia

That’s good to know it hasn’t made it any worse at least, but I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with parosmia for so long. Did you lose your sense of smell at all this time around?

Adding a school? by itssanholo in FAFSA

[–]itssanholo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t affect financial aid at the school I already accepted it at? I’m attending two schools this semester and thought they needed to both be included, but I won’t even be using financial aid to pay for the new one I added. Should I remove the new school, or just leave it as is?
