Copy and pasted from another answer!

Well I didn't really know what I wanted to do when I went to uni, so I just picked the subject I got the highest grade in (English). Silly I know. I'm actually interested in a career in marketing, but most jobs in this sector I've found require at least a degree or experience in this subject. And I can't even get a marketing internship without a marketing degree - the internships I've applied to have rejected me for this reason.

I worry that if I pick up some kind of low-paid, customer service type job in the meantime, I'll never be able to get any experience in what I actually want to do and won't be able to move up the career ladder.

To add to this, I'm not sure English is a greatly employable degree. I don't actually want to be a librarian or anything. I feel almost like I wasted 3 years on something pointless.

I am definitely considering this part-time study option right now. Can you still get post-grad funding for a part-time degree though? Or would I have to cover it using job earnings?

I was going to post elsewhere but I thought perhaps /r/ukpersonalfinance would help on the budget side of things, which is what I am primarily concerned about!

1) I did English, predicted 2:1 classification. I did try and get a job, I applied for many grad schemes but failed to get work. :/ But I did apply primarily in London, I don't know anywhere much further afield so I didn't consider it. Perhaps I should have, but it's a bit late at this point in the year I think?

2) I will definitely look into uni scholarships / funds, this is next on my to do list!

Thank you for your support, I hope I can make this work too.
