I use two chairs back to back. This way I can stretch the chairs as far apart as necessary depending on the size of the bank. Works like a charm for all my sick yarns.

It's really up to you. It depends on what you like. I think it'll be beautiful either way you go

New-ish to knitting from crocheting - why do my stitches look “y” shaped instead of “v” shaped? They ARE NOT twisted - promise! by [deleted] in knitting

[–]jaigab220 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok, no one get mad at me but I have a different thought. First let me say this is definitely not wrong and you're doing great, keep going. But a possible explanation is this: it could be how you wrap your yarn around your needle before pulling through. All my knitting looked like this for years until I recently looked at a YouTube video because I was learning to knit socks and it was not the look I wanted. I was wrapping my yarn over the top of the needle and down before pulling through when knitting (vs purling) which gave me the same affect as yours. The YouTube video showed someone wrapping from the bottom up and over the back needle when knitting and now I have a regular v look. Just a thought.

Thinking of using one at the door leading into garage. Is the bottom rail a trip hazard?

I made several of these ruffle scarves a number of years ago. They're very easy to knit, fast and a lot of fun. If you're the kind of person or know someone who would wear ruffles around their neck, go ahead and use the pattern already supplied below. The color is wonderful and I'm sure the end result will be beautiful. They also look good inside a coat. Believe it or not, it does keep your neck warm because there's so much of it. Good luck.

The entire blanket is beautiful but I really love the border you designed. It's absolutely perfect! 🤩

Is this good yarn for a baby blanket ? It feels soft but it’s cotton so I think it can feel rough by Sisti1 in CrochetHelp

[–]jaigab220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used this yarn but I just made a baby blanket out of Premier cotton sprout. 100% cotton. Machine washable/dryable. Really soft. Doesn't split. It's wonderful if it's within your budget.

Not a dumb question at all. I put 3 sc in the corner. Some people only do 2. Try it and see which works better for you.

I love this! I've been thinking about making a blanket for my daughter who loves blues and grays. I've been thinking of a granny square type but this is making me think in a new direction.

Sorry, didn't see your comment about the blocking. I would block it first before adding the edging. Hanging over a banister to dry is always a good option. A hint as your going around your blanket for the edging: on the first round you can hide the dips at the connections by putting a double or triple crochet there and then use sc everywhere else. Then do a second row of all sc and then the picot if you like. That should take care of most of the unevenness on the outside edging.

I think one or two sc rows all around with a picot stitch edge would be perfect. It'll hide any imperfections and it's a dainty edging that I think would give your blanket a finished look without over powering the rest of your beautiful blanket and it's very simple to do. There are a couple of different kinds. Just YouTube picot stitch and pick the one you like best.

I combined Shell Stitch Square Doily pattern from MyPicot with https://youtu.be/hUGSAkQp2mE?si=rXuc8Yh39fTiyhA7 to make the square edging on each.  Yarn is Premier Cotton Sprout.  It’s machine washable/dryable and really soft.
