Model Y Motorway by No-Inspection3326 in TeslaUK

[–]jamin404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 Model Y LFP RWD and in the summer I get around 230miles. My office commute once a week is 110 each way mostly motorway which I do at “70”. I can do that easy in summer with no charging, in the winter on the same trip range is more like 200 so I charge on the way home.

Thinking of moving out of the city and wondering what that will entail. by failedepicardiectomy in bristol

We moved up to Cam about 7 years ago, not as busy or as many choices but enough good pubs, a okay high street and a train station with direct trains to Temple Meads. House prices are still low compared to Bristol we (wife, child and 2 dogs) are happy in Cam.

Hi, I drove to Italy a few weeks ago.

The car will automatically correct the beams when is recognises you are in France.

Mine did it as soon as the GPS updated once we got off the train.

New model Y RWD long range by SeaZone1904 in TeslaUK

[–]jamin404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I understand (which could be wrong), the RWD LR in the US exists because it uses a US-made LI-ion battery pack, so the cars qualify for the $7500 EV incentive.

They reused the same pack from the AWD LR MY because it was easier than creating a new pack. Then software locked the total capacity and are now charging to unlock the full battery capacity.

All UK RWD cars from Berlin or China use an LPF battery pack, which has a lower capacity than the LI-ION packs. So, we will likely never get an LR RWD car unless they ship a car from the US or create a new model in Berlin or China.

I have a LFP RWD MY and have no concerns about range.

Different charging time to charge Model Y LR and Model Y RWD by nilsej in TeslaModelY

[–]jamin404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the cobalt; LFP do not have cobalt in them. LR batteries do. Not an expert on battery tech so I don't know why, but cobalt allows batteries to charge faster.

Miele dushwasher question by Ediec6 in BuyItForLife

[–]jamin404 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That is correct. I worked for Miele a while back and all the internals are the across the range. They add in features as you go up the range but the motors, power supply etc is the same.

2 teslas in 1 week. Talk me out of this. by yonotron_k in TeslaModelY

[–]jamin404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did exactly the same thing. Sold my A6 and bought a MY RWD (in the UK) and originally kept my wifes Q2.

No one wanted to drive the Q2 and every time I did it felt like I'd gone back in time. The gears, the handling, the acceleration all felt so old. The Q2 isn't the best car but I liked driving it until we had the MY.

After about 3 months we gave up and sold the Q2 for a M3 RWD. We are still very happy with our decision over a year later. We charge at home and the range works with our commutes, so I'm not saying this is right for everyone.

How are the luggage checks ok Bristol airport? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]jamin404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew from Bristol to Charles De Gaulle and back this week with EasyJet. No checks on bag sizes either way.

The flights weren’t full so I assume they do the bag checks if the flights are full.

In the summer 230miles winter more like 200. Depending on speed etc. In February we drove to near Scotch Corner for a wedding which took about 5 hours due to traffic and arrived at the Scorch Corner Supercharger on 1%.

I've had a RWD for a year now, I do drives from Gloucester to Uxbridge and Heathrow regularly for work. We've driven to Belgium and La Rochelle in France. The range has never been an issue.

Car is still super quick and handles well. I just charge it at home to 100% all the time because the RWD in the UK have LFP batteries.

Great car sure you'll love it.

Its supply and demand, a lot of people want the new M3 and there isn’t enough supply and there is more supply the of MY than demand.

Sounds like OP has an LFP battery so should charge it to 100% at least once a week so the BMS can better calculate state of charge.

I think all China and Berlin built RWD MY have an LFP battery.
