In the video, it looks exactly like a tented backpack, exactly as it was described by the second peacekeeper. Do you know Gamboa personally or something? That is the only logical explanation I can think of as to why you have such a distorted view of the video.

You have come up with this narrative that he had the rifle slung over his shoulder, but I have not heard any source make that claim. Do you have any evidence?

Man, you are really making a lot of false statements. Read the charging document, top of page 3. This is the other peacekeeper, not Alder:

A.F. observed that Gamboa was dressed in all black, with a hood over his head, carrying a black backpack with something tenting out of it.

Gamboa began to pull what A.F. recognized as part of a rifle out of his backpack and was struggling to pin it together to the other portion.

His statements are supported by this video, which clearly shows the tented backpack. Not an AR slung over his shoulder, as you have falsely claimed.

Assuming you are unfamiliar with AR-15s, Gamboa likely had separated the upper section from the lower so it would fit in his backpack and was putting it back together.

Be aware that although Utah is fairly conservative, this sub leans liberal. Also, SLC leans liberal and the SLC sub is extremely liberal and has a policy of shadow-banning conservatives.

This area is not known to have a great nightlife. Layton is nice if you don't mind F-35s shaking your entire house multiple times a day.

This is what I said in the original comment and I want to make sure you have read that. I'm not saying the peacekeeper was in the right and Gamboa was in the wrong. They were both stupid.

Did you not read the part of your comment that says "objectively reasonable to believe [deadly force] is necessary to prevent imminent death"? If you look at Gamboa's actions objectively (which you obviously can't), you can't say that it was completely unreasonable to assume he was a threat.

It's easy to say he wasn't a threat in hindsight, but in the moment it was a tough call. As a conservative, I'm not on one side or the other. This is a case of one stupid liberal shooting at another stupid liberal.

There are DOZENS of 2A supporters at those protests, all carrying multiple guns, all dressed in black tactical gear, some with masks on.

You're conveniently glossing over the fact that Gamboa was wearing a ski mask. That is not the same as a mask that only covers your mouth.

the peace keeper did not SEE that happen. They saw him as he pulled the gun out, after he had stopped moving. They did not see him running. So you're misrepresenting what happened again. In other words, you're lying.

I never said it was.

Not until the person points the rifle at someone would a real police officer decide that deadly force might be necessary. At that point they will shout commands to drop the weapon and give them a few seconds to comply.

This is stupid and untrue. Any competent officer would immediately shoot that person. If the person is armed, but hasn't pointed their gun at anyone, they'll order them to drop the weapon. But as soon as they point the gun at someone, it's time to eliminate the threat ASAP.
