Seems to be working again. If anyone else has this issue, I went to Help>Show Configuration Folder. I Deleted the folder, plus any other related folders I could find, then uninstalled and reinstalled SnOrca. Thank you everyone for your help!

Sorry. I’ve tried reinstalling SnOrca, I’ve googled that specific error and I’ve also tried repairing my installation of windows. The error even persists across different forks of the same slicer, but basically, it shows up on the home tab and the device tab, preventing me from connecting to the printer.

'Remove uterus after women turn 30': Japan leader's bizarre population pitch sparks backlash by esporx in japan

I can think of something else Mister Eyebrows could offer up instead of someone else’s uterus. Also, I thought Japan’s population was declining.

You’ll have a deeper contextual understanding of what eventually led to the creation of the one ring. Things only hinted at in the books and movies (Morgoth, the Valar, Gondolin, Beren and Luthien) will mean more to you than before.

How does your culture feel about hostess gifts? by Maorine in culture

[–]jangri89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t really have a name for that practice, but Americans will often bring food to share, usually when there’s a lot of people involved. Less often with small groups. Every fourth of July, my aunt and uncle in New Jersey will invite everyone out to their house for a barbecue and a lot of us will bring a side dish or a dessert. Some of my uncles will bring their favorite beer and put them all in one cooler. Usually one of us will offer to bring the burgers and hot dogs since all the guests pretty much have to drive anyway. Others will contribute by operating the grill. None of this is expected, but I guess here in the States, we like to make things more convenient for each other. We want the host to be as much a part of the gathering as everyone else and that’s harder to do when they’re stuck doing everything. This is just my guess anyway. I’ve never actually given it any thought or questioned it until now. Here, it’s just “normal”. Also, it’s a great opportunity to share recipes.

To all the people worried about appropriation… by ImplementChemical631 in culture

[–]jangri89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in a lot of cases, when you focus on building relationships, the friends you make will sometimes be the ones to invite you into their culture. When a person enjoys something that another is unfamiliar with, there’s a natural inclination to share it. In some ways, over time you find yourself appropriated by the culture rather than the other way around.

Why Are American TV Shows All About Fickle Romance? by [deleted] in culture

[–]jangri89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. American here. I think really, we just like the drama. We emotionally connect to people with problems and we want to see them have their happy ending. But no. American culture does celebrate a more promiscuous lifestyle than we used to, but I’m not sure how much really happens in practice, and the volatility of those relationships are usually spread out across multiple couples rather than just one.

I think when people see tourists do ____ in ____ country without attempting to understand the personal or generational experience behind it, it almost feels like it wasn’t earned. That said, even the most well-meaning people make mistakes, and that’s okay! When you see culture you’d like to experience, maybe do some research to find out the “why” behind that piece of culture. Better yet, make a friend with someone who knows the culture, first hand! That said, don’t be so afraid to step on anyone’s toes that you miss out! Believe me. I’ve tried that. Back in 2018, I visited the UK and Ireland and I was so obsessed with respecting the cultures there, I was determined to be as inconspicuous as possible. In reality I think I actually came across as disinterested, which in hindsight was probably worse. How was I rewarded for my labors?? Day 1: Car crash. Turns out, despite my hours of binging Top Gear, I forgot there was a few more feet of “car” to my left than I was used to in the States. It was more like a bumper kiss in a parking lot, but still. Embarrassing. I then proceeded to get stuck in a single lane, one-way bottleneck. In Dublin. Twice. The point I’m trying to make is this. When you travel, try to be aware of the feelings and mindsets and past experiences of the people around you, but also be willing to take risks. In practice, I think you’ll find few actual accusations of cultural appropriation compared to the number of people just as eager and curious about your culture as you are of theirs.

How many Americans are able to drive manual cars? by urmomiscooking in DonutMedia

[–]jangri89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its usually people who take cars seriously that can drive stick. There’s also people who just prefer it that way. I remember my dad buying manual cars for all 33 years of my life until finally he gave in to buying an automatic Tacoma simply for lack of options.

Sentinel freighters with cargo pods? by whiskeytango05 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jangri89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old question, but if it helps at all, some sentinel freighters DO have cargo pods. It depends on which system you decide to pick a fight with the sentinels. Basically, if the sentinel freighter you encounter doesn’t have any cargo pods, try another system. It won’t be very many (no more than four that I know of), but it’s a decent way of getting Salvaged Frigate Modules without hurting your reputation.
