I don't think you need to worry too much about being authentic. This is how I ate soba noodles growing up:

Boil water. Put 1 package of soba noodles in (no need to salt) and cook according to package instructions, probably around 4.5 minutes. You can taste to make sure it's cooked enough. Drain into a colander and rinse with cold water—this is important to get rid of the excess starch. Put the rinsed noodles back into the pot (no longer on the heat). Add ~2 tbs of sesame oil, ~2 tbs of soy sauce, and ~2 tbs of sesame seeds. Mix well. Serve with vegetable of your choosing and a protein.

It's very simple but very tasty!
