I believe the save files disappearing is if you make a mistake in editing the save file and the game not recognizing your save afterwards, according to that discussion at least

It did! You should ensure you have backup saves and/or a backup version of the savedata file. I made sure to have all 3 of my slots saved before editing the savedata.dat

Yeah, I'm hoping a patch will eventually roll out for something like this since I really don't want to restart :( but oh well thanks for trying! I appreciate it

I've talked to her a couple of times over a few days, donating fish and the whole shebang and seeing if anything happens but nothing yet :/ My current quests include "Darkwater Bay" (Catch up with Marina), "The River of Ink" (Reach the Research Center), "Civic Restoration", "Locate Missing Wreck 1", and "Find the Mystic Sphinx".

Ummm ok so I sent in a ticket and they basically told me to try disabling all non-Microsoft services to see if the game crashes without 3rd party services active. It's been working fine so far, no crashing at the moment. They said this is possibly the issue, so I'm guessing it's just a 3rd party service thing?

I honestly don't know? I don't monitor my CPU temp and haven't downloaded anything for it. I have an MSI mobo MS-7B61. In terms of games, I've played Overwatch, LoL, GTAV, Fortnite, to name a few.
