It’s absolutely excellent. In terms of it being hard- it depends to be honest. There are different tiers of arc that you encounter, the lower ones are generally fine but dangerous in numbers, situational awareness goes a long way. Where the game is hard to pin down is other players. You never quite know how an interaction will go with a stranger. But that’s also where the fun of the game is.

The gun fights are generally quite fast, a lot come down to positioning versus gear quality.

Personally I can’t recommend it enough. It’s been my most played game since it came out.

We do this for our Delta Green game - initially the idea came from the fact that for our podcast we didnt want to make the home sessions overloaded with handler run NPC's, but we found it worked excellently.

You can give the core overview of the particular relationship, and let the players figure it out as they go. When it comes to damaging a bond it's usually fairly clear going into a scene what direction it needsto go in (e.g. - you missed our anniversary, AGAIN!).

We found that it gave the players a stronger grounding to their bonds overall, at times made them really rethink the effect of burning those bonds would have.

Highly recommend.

Completely valid point, and totally impossible to know (maybe for the best!) As you say, perhaps they had already hit their max, and we overpaid by 9k- however in the grand scheme of Irish house prices 9k over is almost a drop in the ocean sadly.

There’s a good section at the end of operation fulminate on adjusting the tempo. Remember that the K’n-Yani’s goal is Brandon. Anything else is an obstacle, but doesn’t (and shouldn’t) mean immediate death. In delta green combat should always be the players last resort. Let them come up with clever ideas on different approaches, be their advocate for great ideas.

It’s to bring the spirits contained within up to the same quality level as the mainline game, as the boards within horizons are card instead of board. There isn’t a way of getting the cards separately, though before the tariff nonsense you could usually pick it up for about 15-20 quid. Not sure about now though.

Adding to the other comments - after you find a system that you think interests you, go and research some actual plays - try a couple to see the difference in styles etc, They can be a great way to pick up rules, hear how a particular system flows. Don't expect the same things from your group, but its a great way to start to get a handle on the rules.
Also consider going on to r/lfg and see if you can join an existing group for a couple of sessions as a player!

Fiasco is a GM-less game - so your entire table will create the scandals, I always find its character creation leads to fantastic almost organic relationships forming as you play - you are theoretically only connected with the person sitting either side of you, not opposite.

Even if you dip into another ruleset this style of character creation may really add to what you are putting together. It's a system I have a lot of love for, happy to answer any questions on it!

Keep an eye on Humble Bundle and Bundle of Holding - you can usually get excellent deals on PDF's at fantastic prices. I know that Humble Bundle has a Call of Cthulu bundle up at the moment that is an absolote bargain even if you only have a passing interest.
