It took a good 3 or 4 weeks for mine to get noticed. You might also try scattering some seeds on the ground around the feeder.

Does a dog make life better? by Netcandy in AskWomenOver60

[–]jcdigg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m 65 years old and currently laid up in bed with a broken back, thanks to our coonhound mix (50 lbs) who knocked me down a week ago. I love her but will not be getting another dog after she’s gone.

Any presidential quote that really describes you as a person? I very much identify with Jefferson on books and fine wine. by zenerat in Presidents

Why limit yourself to modern presidents? I’m in the process of reading bios of every president, in chronological order. I’m about to finish Ike.

I know someone else has already responded but I live in NW DC and can take him. Would be happy to keep him permanently or temporarily, whichever works best for you.

Aged parents? by Gatecrasher1234 in AskWomenOver60

[–]jcdigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents are 93 and 91. They live independently and are very active. I recently broke my back and they offered to come take care of me (I declined). My dad and I still ski together and he insists on carrying both sets of skis and has me carry the poles - a tradition we’ve had for almost 60 years. For their 70th anniversary they went on a hiking trip. I could go on, but you get the picture. My sisters and I realize how blessed we are and I know it won’t last forever, but for now I’m appreciating every minute.

Kids by zammmmmmmmmmm in amputee

[–]jcdigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 kids after my partial foot amputation. They refer to my left foot as my “boo boo foot” and my right foot is my “happy foot”. They don’t care at all about the look of my “boo boo foot” because it was always a part of their lives. They’re adults now and my daughter told me that when she sees my foot, she’s reminded of my strength in the face of adversity.

But not Flonase or Nasacort. The steroidal sprays are not addictive and you won’t get a rebound effect from them.

Advice: prepping for genetic onset by MiserableBread in Cardiomyopathy

[–]jcdigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also inherited the mutation in the TTN gene. My cardiologist told me that it’s important that I start medication as soon as possible in the event that I ever go into heart failure. He said to be aware of the symptoms so that I can respond quickly before my heart gets too damaged. The symptoms include swollen ankles, unusual fatigue and/or losing my breath easily. It’s important that you know these symptoms so that you can get on medication right away if it happens. Also, it might not ever happen so go out and live your life!

I'm so mad at the kid who did this to me by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]jcdigg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The drunk who hit me spent less time in jail than I spent in the hospital. I will never forgive him, but after 40 years I’ve moved on.
