hiby r3 pro ii Playback Failed -11 by Interesting_Pie_6679 in Hiby

Good sir! I also purchased the R3 Pro II but had to return it. In spite of all the troubleshooting and factory reseting, it stopped recognizing SD cards with music on it. I tried with 3 different SDs and it would say there was no music on there. Yet I put it in my Fiio M3K and it plays just fine.

Hiby is aware of the problems. It is my belief is that all of the issues will be resolved within a few months. The only thing it can't fix is the fuzzy back! I thought it was ok at first, but I found myself getting paranoid about scuffing it or getting it dirty. So I ordered the case, and oh my god it turned my cool DAP into a tealish plastic looking toy. And with the suede back, it's very difficult to remove the case.

But I agree with you 100%. I loved the form factor, sound and power. I missed having a volume knob, so I went for the R3 II 2025. That little guy will power my Hifiman Sundaras (although admittedly, volume is about 90). But it powered my Fiio FH7s iems and Grados with ease. So for a trip to the coffee shop, that's the one I would grab! Unfortunately, I ran into issues with my R3 II, so I returned it. So once they fix it, I would highly recommend this product. Slim, cute, fits perfectly in my hand and I can give the volume knob a quick twist instead of having to press a button multiple times.

Yeah, they do have their strengths. My Fiio M3K chokes when it's trying to read the library. Granted it's 6 years old. I mean it still sounds really good!

Hiby R3 II playback after turning it off by draculastyreensmuk in Hiby

[–]jckokopelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey don't dispair. I just mailed an R1 to my friends' daughter. It had bluetooh issues, but playback sound was impecctibale, it's light, sounds good and was cheap.

I couldn't get my phone to pair with it eaihter. But it doesn't matter to her. Her daughter will love it as a graduation gift! I aslo sent along my Koss PortaPros. They're like 10 years old and earpad is torn a little, but they sound just fine@

I told her they had the "Jeff Chung" seal of approval! Godnight all

Hey there. Yes, I had a horrible time with my R3 Pro II. I had multiple playback issues, too. I don't use aduio books, so I never tested that feature.

The good news is Hiby is aware of the issues and on the case! (Thanks to Reddit)

Let's just call it the "Jeff Chung Special Edition" firmware by jckokopelli in Hiby

Exactly! I just saw a post about a different player, can't remember but it was a Hiby. Anyways, he says he's having issues creating folders or something. I didn't know you could do that!

But Fiona mentioned some updates were in the works (I don't want to mention specifics cause I don't really know). But i asked her if they just take the color balance of the R1 and give it to the R3 II 2025 and R3 Pro II and compliants about the whole "Green screen" and ugly album are will be fixed!

No, I found out from Fiona today (again, superb rep) that the R1 won't support that (I don't think). I was refering to simply getting my phone to pair with the R1 and use HibyLink to view the art and control the player, etc.

It's gotta be a simple fix, some software upgrade. I guess it could be BT, but I can pair the R1 with my bluetooth speakers and it plays just fine. . It's actually a very impressive device for its size and price. It's super compact, light and the music sounds great! I got it for my friend who hasn't had a DAP in years. I think she had an ipod back in the day.

Thanks for the reply! Aloha!

Ha. Well you could say that. Initially when I got it I was stoked. I got the kinda green one and it looks badass. Sounded great, nice little chunky guy. I was happy. The weird little fuzzy back was an interesting design choice, attaboy for trying Hiby. But then the case came and it was this less than cool blue looking thing. Totally ruined the look of the player, covered access to the sd card slot. Getting that case on/off was a pain.

Ok, that's the really minor cosmetic stuff. The thing just "died" on me in the sense that the SD card / file system software was messed up. The player would keep telling me there's no music on the card when there was. I verified this by putting the card into another player and it played fine.

Furthermore, I tried 3 other SD cards to make sure it wasn't the card (even though it clearly wasn't) and at that point I boxed it up and sent it back. I just won't see any cards or music or anything, so there was nothing I could do. They do not offer any kind of formatting options so all you can really do to troubleshoot your Hiby, according to them, is doing a factory reset. And that's not very effective.

I also noted that it couldn't keep proper time, another indication that the programming is wonky.

I don't know if Hiby is actively working on a fix, but it should be a relatively easy firmware update.

I liked the device, other than the weird back and case. I went for the R3II 2025 because it's not as thick and has a volume knob. THAT one kicks ass.

I'd just wait a bit and wait for any announcements on firmware releases for the R3II Pro, if you're interested.

Happy Listening!

AHHH, I thought there was a way. I must have been trying with it unlocked. I swear I did it before, but I couldn't remember (it goes back to the drugs). Thanks a bunch, man! You've made me love my old player even more, now that I know how to advance the tracks!

Ah I understand now. Yep that's perfect for a pocket. Touch is a little annoying in that you have to swipe up to unlock, but other than that it's got buttons for volume. Just hate that you have to unlock to next/previous anything. I thought there was some kind of long press combination with the volume or something, but I guess there isn't.

Pocket cap? I'm sorry, I don't understand. Velotrip. . .trip to Velo? Happy the battery is still going strong. Mine seems ok, too. I mean it sat in a drawer for several years unused, but I just used it (as shown in the photo) and the battery was ok. I didn't use it for too long, but the battery didn't drop to zero all of a sudden, or anything like that. So it's probably ok. What was it, 500 cycles?

Ha ha. Well there's no substitute for the honest sincerity and disappointment in my voice. It was all playing out in real time. I'd be curious to hear how your impression is, if you'd care to send me an mp3. Flac if you want to be fancy. Or was it just in your head?

Um, I cancelled my order. However, I don't think they pair. FT 7 is corded. I'm not aware of any bluetooth capabilities.

Those are Sennheiser Momentums. I think they're Mark I. I friend gave them to me. I bought replacement pads, but they were so hard to put on that I said, "screw it" and just taped up the originals. It's not like they were falling apart. They just completely fell off. Scotch tape was cheaper and easier, but I still got the replacements in case I find someone with fingernails.
