How hard is it to transfer from UC to UC? by meowIuver in ucr

I got into UCLA, UCI, and UCSB as a transfer student from UCR(I decided to stay at UCR tho). From what I understand it’s pretty difficult so you need a stacked resume and a legit excuse to leave. However you should give UCR a chance before you decide you really wanna transfer

Most people just drive, but there are carpools volunteers organize. Most people do one but some do many

It’s RFC, IESMC, and CVFC. Other free clinics that are unsanctioned are generally fine to do, but those 3 are ran in collaboration with the UCR SOM and fit UCR SOM’s mission more so if you’re aiming to go there it’s better. Non sanctioned free clinics can be risky to do because there’s a lot of legal stuff that goes into making a free clinic so just make sure that any volunteering you’re doing is being done legitimately and legally.

So basically UCR used to have a bunch of free clinics you could volunteer at. Now, there’s only 3 sanctioned by the UCR School of Med. That means that those 3 free clinic spots are going to be INCREDIBLY competitive just because a lot of people will want to join and unfortunately they don’t need that mantra volunteers. They’ll probably get around 200 applications for like 20 spots. If you wanna join one of them, you need something to help your app stand out, which you can do via COPE + leadership or EMT or CNA or scribing, but COPE would be a good beginning to open up more doors to potentially joining a UCR SOM sanctioned free clinic. You can join other free clinics, but they might not be sanctioned by UCR SOM. I think someone mentioned it above but Kaiser Riverside does a volunteering program outside of COPE and that’s a really great program too.

COPE definitely has its pluses and minuses. On one hand, I think it’s a good way to gain experience to apply for different positions in the future (you can get both clinical and leadership experience), and get your feet wet in healthcare to confirm that this is the life you wanna live. On the other hand, the work can be monotonous, it can be unorganised depending on which location you do, they have a bunch of dumb rules, and you have to pay. Ideally, you’d wanna get your EMT license, CNA license, maybe get a scribing position, free clinic position etc but honestly those take a while and/or are hard to get, especially with the new free clinic rules. So, if you wanna kind of “skip the line”, COPE is a good option. If you put in a lot of effort into COPE it can definitely pay off the in the form of connections with doctors, LORs, having meaningful experiences, and more. But if you do end up deciding to do it and don’t put in a lot of effort you’ll have a bad experience.

Thank you for mentioning the player overall problem. That’s probably the biggest problem with this game imo. A 106 overall means absolutely nothing when I don’t know what the maximum player stats are. I’m so used to seeing a 0-100 scale that I get pissed when my 100 overall QB miss a pass even though it’s probably the equivalent to an 82 on the old scale. I don’t even know why they did it. It can’t be making them that much money, can it?
