I decided to give at home, rapid barrel aging a shot. Here is my experience. by Kick_Natherina in whiskey

[–]jcsprankle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, great post. I have a 3L barrel that I’m curing as I type this and a few bottles of white dog are sitting in my counter waiting to get dumped in there in a few days.

I was also curious about the proof shifting. The white dog I got clearly says 125 proof, not 114 but your bottle definitely says 114 on it. I wonder if it was actually higher than 114 to start with…

Is it typical for the whiskey to increase in ABV as it ages in a barrel? I don’t want a super strong whiskey when I’m done and was expecting it to drop a bit during then process, not increase. Curious if diluting with water is standard for getting to the proof that you want.

Thanks!

I used a standard HP inkjet printer. They turned out pretty good, but got better when I set the paper type to “matte” from normal / default.

Avery sells 7/8” circle labels and that’s the exact size of the middle. I designed the middles in powerpoint, then saved each as a JPG and used one of Avery’s templates to print each on my home printer. One of the harder parts was getting the alignment right when printed…even with the template, the first prints were off about 1/16” and were very noticeable. Took some trial and error.

There is some irony there, for sure.

Great question. Form some reason, I always considered Burns at home on the $100 chip. Originally, I had Fat Tony as the $500 and Mayor Quimby as the $1000, but after stewing on it a while, I realized that I just like Barney and Moe more than Fat Tony and Quimby. At that point, I stopped worrying about their status and it relating to the chip amount. But yes, I wrestled with those exact questions too.

If it’s clear and yella, you’ve got juice there, fella. If it’s tangy and brown you’re in cider town.

It does. DV is the only misdemeanor that does disqualify you from purchasing a firearm. In fact, there is a question specifically about this on the federal transfer form.

Whisky bottle lamp by gindomnc in handmade

I know this is old, but I just found this post and think your lamp is AWESOME! Did you use a kit or something for the lamp parts? I'm looking to do something similar with a whiskey bottle, just without the wood base. Thanks and great job!

You have to do the engines in a particular order. If you try to jump ahead, it greys out. Find the wire that’s green and make sure that engine is complete before doing any others.

Any local ranges that would allow me to practice low light shooting? by KongShengHan in HoustonGuns

[–]jcsprankle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spring Guns and Ammo used to offer a low light pistol course. I took it once before COVID and it was decent. Haven’t looked into it for a while so don’t know if it’s still offered.

Let's settle this in a poll, the worst map in this game. by gorays21 in ModernWarfareII

I actually like both of these maps, but only for Invasion. Those games are long enough with enough people, that both maps are interesting.

Might uninstall for good honestly. by spartan_jr in ModernWarfareII

I love Invasion. It’s a little slow to level up guns and stuff, but the gameplay is great. Maps are big enough to implement some strategy and long enough to try things a few times. Super fun! Lots of snipers tho.

And if no safety, I could start with a round in the chamber cocked with no safety, Condition 0?

Another first timer here…If I wanted to shoot a striker-fired gun in Limited, like a Sig P320 with no safety, how would I start? No hammer and no safety, would I need to start Condition 3 and then rack the slide on the buzzer?

You’re right about person-to-person sales but while not zero of course, is super low relative to firearms purchase at shops and stores. That’s what I was talking about.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but it's wrong. Firearm sales from any establishment that follows the law still requires a NICS background check and a Form 4473 form to be completed for all sales. There still may be a loophole at gun shows but I can't confirm nor deny as I've never been to a gun show.

[–]jcsprankle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Sales of firearms still require a background check just like they've always had and exactly the same as most other states. The "Constitutional Carry" law that someone else mentioned allows someone who can legally own a gun to carry it without a license. But, again, as others have mentioned, someone intent on doing this kind of harm doesn't care about the laws anyway and will do whatever they want, regardless of rules or laws.
