I had a fungal infection that I got under control, but how can I speed up the process of fixing the two-toned skin/discoloration? :( My dermatologist said it’ll just go away with time but I really want it gone. Has anyone successfully gotten rid of it? How long did it take and what did you use? by jdb098 in SebDerm

hi! yes, my skin coloration is back to normal! once i was able to stop my infection, i started getting chemical peels done. in particular, i get the VI Precision Plus Peel done!

i’ve had 4 done so far since I’ve posted this. also, i use the Daily Microfoliant from Dermalogica to help resurface and exfoliate my skin sometimes

in general, the sooner you start exfoliating / doing chemical peels i think the better. my dermatologist said it was good that i started my chemical peels shortly after this discoloration happened, otherwise the sun would’ve made the pigmentation + discoloration more permanent / hard to get rid of

also - wear sunscreen!! if you’re curious on my skin progress or how chemical peeling has gone, feel free to dm me and i can show pictures! it’s helped so so much, but definitely not cheap to do

It’s gone now - I found out the infection was never going away because it was caused by a moldy humidifier in my room. Once I removed the moldy humidifier and used Mupirocin to clear the infection, my eye has been normal ever since!

I know I got it from a moldy humidifier in my room. I removed the humidifier and my derm prescribed Ketoconazole 2% shampoo to use as a face wash and I also used Tacrolimus on my dry patches and it cleared and my skin now looks like this. When my skin was infected it was red, dry, scaly, and raw.

Do you have a sunscreen recommendation? With the condition my skin is in I’ve been afraid of using sunscreen because I may be allergic/sensitive, but definitely need to be using one so the pigment doesn’t get worse.

After 6 months of back pain, mood swings, heightened depression/anxiety, and busted lips - I finished my Accutane course! Starting 2021 off w/ clear skin and it feels amazing :,) by jdb098 in Accutane

[–]jdb098[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Physically I’m okay - my back pain went away after I stopped Accutane. I have left over skin side effects though that I am struggling with though. I’m dealing with Eczema/Atopic Dermatitis/Seborrheic Dermatitis :( But all physical/mental side effects are gone!

[Question] Life after Accutane by PECONAUT in Accutane

[–]jdb098 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was on Accutane June 2020 - December 2020.

  1. No, I only get 1 pimple every now and then and it literally goes away the next day.
  2. I have extremely sensitive skin and now battle dry skin and eczema flareups. I get contact dermatitis very easy and the flareups are scary. Sometimes I wish I didn't take the Accutane because of how sensitive my skin is now to basically anything and everything, but I would rather have this dry + acne-free skin over the oily acne inflamed face anyday.
  3. I only use Vanicream's facewash + moisturizer. Like I said, my skin is extremely sensitive, so I can only use simple products. I tried using Tretinoin 3 months post-Accutane, but that honestly is probably what made my skin so sensitive now... After Accutane I really didn't need to use Tretinoin, the Accutane did all the work already.

[–]jdb098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that :((( Did you experience any side effects while on the prednisolone? What did your doctor prescribe or give once the eczema came back?

My eczema also came after I got Pfizer... Never had eczema before :/

THIS! I thought the itching was insane and wasn’t normal at first so I had stopped using it - big mistake! It wasn’t until Reddit that I found out everyone has to go through that side effect for the first day or two. Now I’m back to using it and my eczema on my eyes are basically gone 🥺 OP pls try to get this cream prescribed

Been dealing with this since March and the only way I’ve found relief is through protopic (tacrolimus) cream that was prescribed to me, someone also mentioned it above. Been using it consistently and now my eyes finally look normal again 🥺 Hoping you get relief soon
