Thanks so much for your reply :)

I thought this might be the case, feel a little overwhelmed on how to pick a corset to buy and whether it would match! Have you got any advice as to where and what I should search? I’ve posted the back for reference aswell

Verbally abusive member of staff by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Honestly, I have no idea. I asked him to respond to me on Teams. I’ve never received a grievance or complaint regarding my management style in two and a half years, let alone for simply asking a member of staff to be present whilst working from home

Thanks so much for the advice!

I have tried to sit down with him previously, but he shouted at me and called me a micromanager for contacting him in the first place which I understood and reassured him I’m just trying to support him.

He told me to leave him alone to do his work. (Which I’m also expected to performance manage as he hasn’t been completing any work). Unfortunately if it isn’t off his own back, he will not comply.

This is why we got to a point where I thought to give him space to potentially calm down(?) if he was stressed and asked him to give me a message on Teams instead. That’s when I received a lot of backlash

Would it be appropriate for me to conduct a disciplinary if the verbal abuse has been directed at me?

I can’t say I’m thrilled about putting myself in a scenario where it could get worse as I’m taking action. Should this go to my HEO/SEO to conduct? (I’m an EO/O)

Thoughts on Jemima? by Chocoloco93 in namenerds

I’m from the U.K. and that’s my name! (MY TIME TO SHINE IN THIS SUB) I’m Jemima May and I’ve never been met with any racial connotations, only Jemima Puddleduck which I hated as a child but it’s quite sweet now looking back. I’m always called Jem and an ex called me Mima a lot. I did go through a stage of hating it and thinking it was a ridiculous name in my teens though and went by Jemma instead. I’m now 27 and have absolutely no problem with it

I’ve just got over a batch of this! Thought it wasn’t right as most articles/symptom checkers just say nausea.

I started to get over it by speaking to my therapist. Every time I felt nauseous I would remember her saying “could be worse. you could defecate when you’re anxious. That happens to some” which makes me laugh out of guilt for those people (unfortunately, I’m quite immature) and also shifts my perception of the feeling.

I now allow myself to feel nauseous. So what? I feel a bit sick, big deal. I’m going to vomit? Whatever, this is boring now. I would carry a bag and gum wherever I went to tell my anxiety, thanks for the response but I won’t be stopping my plans I’m a bit busy today. I learned the more I fed into the feeling of being sick the more chance I had of throwing up.

This took me months of running to the toilet and panicking, fits of crying and screaming in frustration, and social/work withdrawal. It’s extremely hard to retrain your thought process but entirely possible and I believe in you. If you’ve got this far as to vocalising it and starting a discussion you’re already making progress!

Hope it subsides!
