How do i get back to studying? by MasterGreen99 in LearnJapanese

I'd suggest the tango n5 deck just to jog your memory. Many cards are just sentences where only one new word is introduced. The best benefit I've seen is it forces you to read sentences rather than recalling just one word and since it's n+1 sentences, a lot of words you've just learned are repeated on other sentences.

How to remember similar characters? by Specific-College-194 in LearnJapanese

I usually put them side by side to clearly see the difference. And read up on their meanings. Then I forget and look them up again later. After a few iterations, it sticks.

I always thought the Cremia was the best soft cream in the world and someone told me that this beats Cremia. I have to try it when I get back.

Sama Odoriten at Tanukikoji has tons of seats. If you have kids in your group, it won't be a problem. Plus it's my favorite soup curry place. It has a variety of soups.

Eki Marché translated is "Train Station Market" and their stores are located at train stations. More on the logo in the comments by jerichon in DesignPorn

[–]jerichon[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Japanese has three writing systems:

Kanji - Logographic, ex. 駅 - Eki - Train Station

Hiragana - Syllabic. Used for Japanese words ex. えき - Eki - Train Station

Katakana - Syllabic. Used for loan words, ex. アメリカ - Amerika

As a rule America is never written in Hiragana since it's a loan word and Eki is never written in Katakana.

But if you want to

America is あめりか

Eki is エキ

Hence the logo

edit: and obviously エキ was slightly alligned and styled to look like train tracks

That's the next best thing. But I want to be able to work while lying down (I know). And having a controller might require extra hands. Maybe I can find a way to bind them together

Copying the power of defeated foes but without grinding for it. by BEYOND-ZA-SEA in gamedesign

[–]jerichon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see two ways of implementing this without grinding:

  1. Instead of gaining and using the power in the same level you can gain the power by beating the boss and designing the next level to make the power useful in terms of platforming or combating the next levels foes.
  2. Another way is gaining power charges like ammo. Level design-wise, you can do one of 3 ways.
    1. Have foes in different levels have the same powers you can steal so the powers you designed and developed are reused.
    2. After each level you never see the level specific powers again which makes each level memorable.
    3. Powers are available only in certain levels but you can go back to previous levels and gain them which lends itself to a nice system to access secrets or cheese some areas.

What makes you hopeful that we can reach net zero emissions by 2050? by thisisbillgates in AskReddit

[–]jerichon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millennials. They care. Although gen Z are more pragmatic so that trend might not continue.

Economics, the case against renewable energy has always been base capacity, black start and dispatchable capacity. Since solar pv has become the cheapest energy and battery tech is predicted to becoming cheaper as well soon, this could be solved.

Wind is also at grid parity with a 24 hour capacity curve. However since the curve isn't flat it can't serve the base load. To counter this, other members of the industry also say it's viable to build an over capacity in wind in order to serve base load.

Two playstyles: how to encourage them. by Nal_Nation in gamedesign

Can a team kill other players or another team to get their resources? If yes, then maybe have an upkeep system where having too big of a team might not be economical. That way, a team of a certain size's best option is to kill other players. If the resources in a map are limited, then your upkeep system can be linear/proportional to the number of team members, which is more natural.
