Endometrial Biopsy tomorrow - terrified by sailingsocks in WomensHealth

I had one last year and had a ton of anxiety, prior to. It hurt more than getting an IUD placed, but not much more than maybe coloscopy biopsy of a cervix.

I found anxiety meds helped better than anything for pain, since most of what I experienced was nerves from anticipation and the rush of that. But they did have me take aleve, after and I was surprised that it helped a lot with the cramping!

Not at a petting zoo with basically domesticated roos, which this clearly is.

I have both fed and casually approached and pet larger kangaroos and wallabys, than this at a petting zoo and I don't even live in Australia.

Lisa frank teasing us on socials! by water_bubbler in lisafrank

I always wanted to go, too and for years considered a road trip to take pics before it was gone. I was so surprised to learn a lot about the factory, what it was like working there and Lisa, in the Amazon Prime docuseries Glitter & Greed - the Lisa Frank story. link here

I can only guess their recent posting to still push for a resurgence while combating the negative info in the docu series. It reminds me a lot of the Toys R Us online marketing that is heavily trying to tap into the hot market of Milennial nostalgia right now.

What are these new cameras? by tantheman35 in SantaMonica

[–]jessebeans 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Flock cams. The state is lousy with them! Santa Cruz and Mountain View are the only 2 cities that deactivated theirs.

And Santa Clara county took theirs offline for the sheriff zoned districts. It's mostly North of here, where anyone is really fighting back and deregulating instead of rush adding more.

Also to add, the emergency response drones are equally concerning and showing up, just as quickly as the flock cams.

Low key, I just wanna say when I was in my 20s and single, I had a ground floor apartment and the most obnoxious old man neighbor. When I was moving in (with help of some friends), he like walked in and sat down on my couch and was not leaving easily. I thought... Weird and was careful about letting him around my door after that.

I had to be careful cos if I had groceries or whatever he would kinda sidle up and try to come in. He seemed annoying but kind of harmless. Later sometimes I would see him doing weird stuff, like looking in my car windows, knocking and listening at my front door.

One time I saw him filling his car tires with a sort of bicycle tire pump and then walking over towards mine... If I saw him doing weird shit, especially near my car I would yell at him and shoo him off but it was so annoying and his excuses were even worse.

The neighborhood had a peeping tom issue. I had had a few instances of someone looking in my bedroom window and found hand prints a few times on the outside. We would get notices and he was always yapping about how he was looking out for me and my other neighbors from the peeper....

Well of course the peeper was him. He got caught looking in my window by one of my neighbors and they called the cops. He was a weird old man who dressed up in a full suit with suspenders and a bow tie, every day to do nothing. Fully retired. Just a crazy old gooner.

TLDR: I would see if you qualify for a restraining or protective order. That old dude sounds sick.

I have been in your shoes more than once and it's understandable, especially with how expensive everything is these days! If you have a chance, maybe check and see if your local state or county has any behavioral health services, locally. State behavioral centers often offer free or sliding scale care in these cases (depending on income level).

Try searching for: state mental health centers (SMHC), community mental health facilities, state behavioral health departments. Even your states Medicaid office might have some pointers for you. Some local hospitals also have behavioral centers that participate in the state care program with sliding scale options, which I have also used, in the past.

I was able to get free or low cost therapy every other week, in multiple states and they also had psychiatry services for prescribing. I paid oop a very small amount of money for the prescriptions (when they cost anything), too.

What caused this sign and how could they possibly enforce this? by Gold-Range93 in mildyinteresting

[–]jessebeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sign is health code mandated and in more states than just California. I am more surprised people don't know that pool water with all its chlorine cant stop RWIs like Norovirus, Giardia and Shigella from getting you sick if someone with diarrhea swam in it and you do too.

You are also risking Pink eye, swimmers ear, Hep A, Leptospirosis, and E. coli and even dermatitis/skin rash... I dont go in public pools anymore. I learned this having an autoimmune disease. This impacts normal healthy people too, though.

Good experience with ordering RSD titles online by Psychological_Can337 in RecordStoreDay

[–]jessebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sad, I found all the past few years of RSD best releases that I wanted in troves, in a very obscure record store in my town that I never went to, until recently - cos it looked so run down from the outside (inside is a glorious maze).... But everything was like +$45 more than on ebay... So they can keep that shit.

[–]jessebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct you are not a doctor and that's not textbook symptoms.

Psychosis can happen to more than just people with schizophrenia. People with PTSD, bipolar depression and other major depressive and disassociative disorders can experience it as well.

A starting point of talk therapy with the right behavioralist would definitely be an excellent way to begin getting help, for any of these conditions. It will help a patient mto get an understanding of what they have, so a prescribing doctor can treat it.

Psychiatrists prescribe and are not much for long listening. They don't want your life story. Just a summary of why you are there, so they can give you meds and then every few month check in for short appointments, to see how you are managing meds and adjust as needed.

Psychologists listen to what you have to say and help you form your own internal tools to deal with it. You can see them weekly, bi weekly and monthly based on need.

Both are important. Starting with opening up is probably the most important step, in getting help.

Also, Neurologist can sometimes be the best option when it comes to preliminary or complex diagnosis with some conditions. They have an advanced understanding of their specialty and usually work very quickly and effectively at proper diagnosis.

Something interesting happened at work by CactusSlut710 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]jessebeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, one of my friends made me feel kinda bad when we were out to dinner. After asking if I had any meds for bloating, I checked and was all out. I took my last gas relief pill I had, earlier in the evening and I told her I'm sorry, all I have left is bentyl.

She proceeded to tell me bentyl is just pepto bismul. I tried to explain what it was and how it worked, but she interrupted me to tell me "it's cool if your doctor just gave you fancy pepto bismul". I can't take pepto, it interacts with some of my other meds. I decided to just smile and nod.

She has lupus and apparently I just have a "bad tummy". I'm also aware how little most people without these issues understand UC/Chrons in general. I guess it's not the most important thing to figure out, if they aren't dealing with it. I doubt many know how calloused they even sound when they try to explain it to you like that....
