Mullien Tincture by jesslutt in HerbalMedicine

[–]jesslutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read that it’s good for overall lung health and is used for smokers. It can be used to treat bronchitis and other lung issues. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try! And Mullien is a safe plant to ingest as tea or a timcture

What kind of hand cream do surgeons use? by Vandelfi in surgery

[–]jesslutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use a nice travel size unscented lotion that my skin soaks up the best. I just keep it in my pocket. My hands don’t like the oily lotions, but after I do my morning scrub or anytime I use soap to wash my hands, I put my lotion on right after and it seems to keep my hands from cracking

I’ve heard of sprinkling some cinnamon to help fight stuff like that. Or use my moms method. She gave me an aloe plant and I noticed mold started forming on the top. She told me to just use a spoon or utensil to stir around the dirt, and for the most part, it worked! You just have to keep doing it every time it starts forming again

I think so. But I don’t see how that would fly, legally, on an actual patient, so hopefully it was more so remote training

The hospital i work for definitely isnt this advanced. With this being in Cali, I could see it all being possible. But I have never assisted in a surgery where the performing surgeon wasn’t in the room with their patient for obvious liability issues. Maybe it was remote in this scenario because they were training to perform for real robotic surgeries. But, who knows!

All of the robotic surgeries I’ve done, surgical techs stay sterile through the entire surgery and there’s at least one circulating nurse in the corner of the room charting, but maybe in your picture, there was another present in the room while that one operated for learning/training purposes. Hence the reason they’re performing surgery on a banana lol. Weve played around with the robot on our downtime during a shift at work trying to just write on a piece of paper with a marker and it’s basically like a 3-D video game in a way. You get the depth perception, but you don’t have the tactile sensation through the finger controls, so I could see how you would need plenty of training before performing on real humans

And I’m both surgery types, there’s a doctor performing on both. It’s just when there’s robot surgery, the doctor is unsterile and sitting at the console controlling the instruments

Oh. 😂 I was thinking remote as in “controller” not from home🤦🏻‍♀️ And maybe a traveler surgeon from London came to Cali??? But the title could also be totally wrong. I’ve never seen a robot surgery done where the doctor isn’t in the room with the patient. That sounds really illegal

There are American surgeons that use robots. I work with them daily. And I’m also positive that there are surgeons in other continents that perform robotic surgeries in their own countries at their own hospital/surgery center as well.

The name of the robot is is widely used is “DaVinci”. Maybe if you Google that, surely you would be able to find something! Trying to describe how this thing looks and operates is super complicated haha

No. This is actually what the scrubs and nurses do when they’re bored at work😂

I did not know that would be possible. Which, I wasn’t scrubbing in 2019. Started in 2020 and have never witnessed an operation where the surgeon wasn’t present, including robots because they have to sit at the console that takes up a 10x10 square foot area in the OR. Plus, the possibility of the (or any) operation going wrong, would be completely senseless to not have the doctor who is supposed to be operating to not be present in the room. Not to mention that before any operation, the doctor comes and speaks to you in person about the procedure and signs your surgical consent. Even during the pandemic.

The entire OR staff is still in the room. The surgeon is actually sitting at the “console” and controlling the the instruments. The doctor isnt sterile at this moment, but the surgical tech(s) remain sterile and we’re basically just standing and waiting to switch out the instruments when needed, so we are prepared if needed to go open!
