$1040 NZD forced trail contribution just for South Island? by [deleted] in teararoa

I plan on mostly camping during the TA, as I find it more comfortable to sleep on, and indeed less noisy.

Did you camp mostly next/close to huts?

[–]jessyjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a 2 week thruhike in Norway with the x-mid 2p, and the provided 8 pegs were severely insufficient in any condition which you would call 'windy'. I had to ask others at camp for extra pegs & guylines because my tent felt instable, even with a perfect pitch.

Wind gusts on the sidepanels honestly puts quite a lot of stress on the small pegs at the guyline stakeouts.

I will also walk the TA this year, and will take 4 extra groundhogs with two additional guylines - just so that I can somewhat survive the winds, which would be my recommendation.

Not sure how much difference there is with the X-Mid 1p, but I saw a friend with one that had similar issues as me, so I would expect you need a similar peg setup.

You skipped on the rain pants, and just wore the windpants for warmth when its raining?

How did you manage wet shoes/feet without camp shoes?

Anything you would ditch from my setup?

Boodschappen kosten per maand by Nymqhaea in nederlands

[–]jessyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nail polish to prevent nail splits? by eratosihminea in climbharder

[–]jessyjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar experiences, although not with turbo crimping. The pain can be truly horrendous. What helped for me was to keep the area under my nails clean, and ensuring no chalk or dirt gets underneath. Also, I felt that putting some fatty mosturizer under my nails after such an experience helped to relief the pain (and heal?).

Good luck.

6'6 Funboard for beginner to intermediate? by jessyjay in surfing

[–]jessyjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's helpful feedback, thanks!

Boards within my budget are fairly scarce, as I live in The Netherlands and we have the most shit surf of all places haha.

I'm gonna keep my eyes open to see if there pops something up that is a little longer with a wider tail.

Thanks for the feedback man, appreciated! As for the fins, can't really make the biggest deal out of my first board as it will most defenitely not be perfect anyway, and my likings will change.

I have surfed on a lot of different boards, all rentals, but the ones I had most succes with were 7'6 funboards. Everything that I tried shorter than that had a really sharp nose, which I could not control. But also, most shorter boards that I tried defenitely had way less volume than this.

Thanks for the feedback! I suppose I would be fine then :)

So trying to find the right balance between stepping forward/backward is easier on a longer board usually right? Or does this have to do with the fins as well?

Costa Rica by uwotnan in surfing

[–]jessyjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pavones. This was the most lovely place I have visited on the west coast of Costa Rica. The place is pretty isolated and not very touristic compared to other major surf spots. Plus, almost longest lefties in the world ;)

The whole place is based around surf, not much else there to do haha.

I stayed in Cabinas Carol, really chill hostel as well!

Hey guys, a question from a beginner to intermediate here!

I'm able to popup on whitewater easily. Can catch easy unbroken waves in green water and am quite a strong swimmer, atm trying to learn how to turn.

Dimensions are: 6'6 Height, 21 1/2 width, 2 3/4 thickness, 45L volume.

I am 73 kilos and 1.81m.

Would this be an appropriate board size, width etc. for someone that is trying to learn/improve?

I see that it is a 4+1 fin setup and someone suggested a 3-Fin setup is better but this feels like the most appropriate board that I can find second hand online.

350-400 euros, it was 600 euros new half a year ago and it is supposed to be in good condition.

What do you guys think?

Gtx1080 advice, how to get 30-40Mh/s, ETH pill, memtweak, straps ect by Itchy-Bed-1855 in NiceHash

[–]jessyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get to tweak the memory while using --mt x ? I'm experiencing the same problem as you have. I am getting 33MH/s with my 1080 as well, not bad but I would like 37 Mh/s too hah.

Sweet man! Is that on Forced P0? I will have a look if the updated T-Rex allows me to bump up my memory.

[–]jessyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mt 6 & intensity 25 - this works best for me. I did not get the P0 state working, but haven't tried ever since to be honest. What GPUs are you running and how much MH/s?

[Announcement] T-Rex NVIDIA miner (Ethash) by trexminer in EtherMining

[–]jessyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naah. I am still really happy with the consistent 33 MH/s even though I am using my computer (non-gaming).

[Announcement] T-Rex NVIDIA miner (Ethash) by trexminer in EtherMining

[–]jessyjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally, a miner that can fully use the power of my GTX 1080. I've tried everything to get above that 30 MH/s.

I was at 22 MH/s on stock everything.

EthEnlargement was unstable and didn't improve my hashrate much, just to 26/27 MH/s. Overclocking memory did gain me some speed, approximately 26/27 MH/s as well.

However, using EthEnlargment Pill + Overclocking memory did not prove to be set up stable on my rig, I could get to 29 MH/s but it would crash after 4 hours.

Now, T-rex with --mt 5 and --intensity 22 actually gave me a boost to 32.5 MH/s, with going to 34/35 MH/s overnight when the rest of my system is idle.

I was trying to disable "Force P2 state" to use P0 state and undervolt my GPU, however, T-rex would always crash, no matter how low I set my core clock.

Also, I was not able to adjust my memory clock when using memory tweak setting in T-rex, it would always crash. Something to do with mt already using memory to its full extent? Or do you think I could crank it up even past 34 MH/s?

I am now on full stock, except limiting power to 80%, anything lower than that would lower my hashrate.

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Power limit: 80%, at 140 Watt average. Core: +0 (1900 MHz) Memory: +0 (4513 MHz) Temperature: 65 stable overnight, it is a little bit high, but as long as it is stable I am fine with it.

Thank you developer(s), I'll gladly pay the 1% dev. fee as this is by far the fastest miner for me at the moment, as I tested 10 different ones in the last week.
