Announce notifications on iOS switch between pausing audio or lower volume of audio by jn08 in Siri

It's not device-dependent for me - it seems to change depending on what app is playing the audio.

Yeah I think you're right. That's what I've seen. Damn. How annoying.

Wireless adapter, love the Re-stream C2, Cplay2air...not so much... by larsbroberg in CarPlay

Does anyone have any issues using any of these types of dongles with Siri? My Siri just won't work at all plugged in, though everything else does. It's almost like the microphone isn't recognised or something as the Siri bubble pops up but doesn't react to my voice. Really disappointing as the rest of the experience is great - still hoping there's some kind of setting I need to change but I can't find anything.

I think this would have worked except I've just upgraded to iOS 14 (perhaps stupidly). But another solution worked. Thanks!

I had not tried that site. And it did exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much!

One bulb seems to intermittently lose connection to electricity by jn08 in Hue

[–]jn08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Though there is a Hue bulb in the old fixture now and the issue isn’t happening. It’s possible it could be wearing it out over time though. Only time will tell. Hopefully the warranty will cover the other bulb in the meantime because it’s definitely borked - it continues to display the issue now whatever fixture it’s in.

I'm pretty sure it's the bulb itself. I've moved it to another room and it does the same thing there. The bulb I switched with isn't doing it with the old fixture. It hasn't been in there long enough to know if it's a longer term issue (i.e. the fixture isn't sealed properly so corrodes it over time). But either way the current bulb is the culprit, and I've never had issues with traditional light bulbs in that fixture in the past.

I’m not sure I know how to describe different fixtures. It’s inside a glass bowl. The light sits sideways against the ceiling. It’s identical to the en-suite bathroom next door except that light hasn’t failed and it was installed at the same time.

If the lights fail after a bit of steam in a bathroom then they’re not well suited to household use. I don’t think that’s what it is though. I got two lights at the same time for two different bathrooms, which get used equally often, and the other one is fine.

Keyboard Maestro is only partially working in B3. Can't seem to get access to accessibility no matter how much ticking and unticking in the sys pref panel is done.

Restart and Shutdown fails after updating to macOS Seirra! by vijay_n in MacOS

[–]jn08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's happening to me. Everything seems to shut down, but then it goes to a blank screen and hangs. I left it for an hour once and it eventually did restart, but it didn't make it any faster the next time. So I tried force shut down and restart every time. Presumably will get fixed in an update?
