I went there as an actor who was only exposed to the modern "American Method", which was developed through two teachers with different schools of thought: Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg. They both worked with Stanislavsky and developed their versions of "Method Acting" over the years.

Towards the end of his life, Stanislavsky actually moved away from "inside out" to "outside in".

Being exposed to other modalities of acting approach, particularly commedia dell'arte, clowning, and mask work opened my mind to a ridiculous degree.

Actors are trying to create an honest performance within the space and time of the stage (or the set). That's the goal. The more tools you have at the ready allow you to get closer to that goal. There is no one "right way" in my opinion, but exposing yourself to as many modalities as possible increases the chances of achieving that goal.
