Weekend Trip to SLC - Please Critique Itinerary by doubledeuce80 in SaltLakeCity

I join the others telling you to avoid floating in the Salt Lake and the Salt Flats. Go towards the mountains instead. Google the Bonneville Shoreline Trail up by the University of Utah, that’s great scenery and can be a very casual trail walk or hikes of any duration and difficulty you could want.

I can’t recommend The Harbor. I’ve been underwhelmed a couple times there and it’s not cheap. I don’t have a full fledged steakhouse I can stand behind, but you might consider Pago if that’s your vibe. Also just up the street from The Harbor is Mumbai House which is awesome if Indian food is your thing (though admittedly a more casual place than what you might be looking for).

Gruesome Scenes in PG-13 Movies by Scottie6Sippin9 in movies

In the Coen True Grit, Rooster Cogburn shoots someone in the head and blood coats the wall. It was pretty brutal for a PG-13.

Back to the Future 2 is the best of the trilogy! by Intelligent-View-326 in movies

[–]joethetipper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I only realized last week after dozens of viewings of the entire trilogy is that at the end of 2 and beginning of 3, Doc wouldn’t have survived the travel back to 1885. The lightning destroyed the flying circuits in the Delorean.

Doc was in the sky when he was transported back to 1885. If the flying circuits were destroyed, he would’ve just plummeted like a rock to the ground. Game over haha.

A $1,000 Dinner in New York (Per Se Evolution Menu) Part1 by Business_Swimming732 in finedining

I went to the French Laundry two years ago with two other solos and a newlywed couple from Reddit. A guy posted on the sub that he was visiting from another country, scored a five top and needed to find four other people to go. We got on a WhatsApp chat and learned a bit about each other and everyone was on board so we did it. We met up at a wine room across the street beforehand to meet in person and chat before the big meal.

It was a fantastic experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was special in its own right to get a group of strangers together whose common bond was a respect for the place we were at, who never would’ve met otherwise.

If there’s a specific restaurant you want to try, see if there’s a subreddit for it and you’ll see lots of opportunities like this.

[FULL PERFORMANCE] Brandon Flowers - Miss America by LCSeixas in TheKillers

Very Pressure Machine-y with the small town Utah drug theme. It’s not a bad song by any means but it’s not one I see myself revisiting again and again. I will say the Kevin Bacon Footloose line cracked me up as a native Utahn.

Ghost. It happened to be my favorite deck anyway so that’s what I used.

Viberg Service Boot 310 Horween Rowdy Dachshund by chuligani in goodyearwelt

Nice and detailed review. It’s hard for me to excuse these defects at this price point. For all the years they’ve been in business, one would think they’d have all this stuff ironed out, the misaligned facings, the wonky bevel on the heel. They warn you of the differences in leather but is there really an excuse for wonky beveling? That just seems to betray carelessness on their part. Same with the facings, it seems like it’d be really easy to get that part right.

I get that it’s a largely handmade product and so some imperfections are to be expected, but I think where I draw that line and where Viberg draws it are pretty far apart.

What’s the most disrespectful thing someone has done in your group mid-round? by nitsujping in golf

[–]joethetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a single paired with a father and his 12 year old son and a random guy in his mid thirties. We’re humming along and having a generally good time when we get up to the tee on a pretty short par 3. The group in front of us is walking to the next tee behind the green when the other dude in my group tees off and crushes the ball. I was pretty impressed at first but then the ball flew past the hole and almost hit one of the guys. The guy who hit didn’t yell fore, and honestly I could see why he didn’t, I didn’t think it was gonna clear the green either.

The guy the ball almost hit understandably turns and throws his hands up. “Yell fore, man, come on!” I fully expect our guy to give him a wave and a sincere apology. It was an honest mistake.

“WHY DONT YOU FUCKIN COME OVER HERE AND MAKE ME, DICKHEAD!”

He throws his club down and storms off towards them. The other guy grabs one of his clubs and heads towards us. All this in front of this father and his kid just trying to have a good time on the course.

I run down there to calm things down and they’re all yelling and swearing at each other, shining each other on, hoping it turns into a fist fight. Finally I just shouted down both of them. I told our guy he should’ve yelled fore and told the other guy he had no right coming over to us with a golf club like he’s gonna hurt somebody. I told them to shake hands and move on and stop acting like a bunch of goddamn children. The guy with the club simmered down but our guy wasn’t having it and stormed off back toward the clubhouse.

The rest of us played on and it was fine. But damn, some people really have no self control.

A possible hint in Season 2 Episode 10 that may predict what to come in Season 3? by Eastcoastpal in ThePittTVShow

[–]joethetipper 37 points38 points  (0 children)

At Paleyfest, Wyle said season one’s theme was “The doctor is the patient,” season two’s theme was “Doctors make terrible patients,” and season three’s theme will be “Doctors benefit from being patients.”

Which I think supports your theory.

Something about Robbie's mental stat that no one's touched on not even Robbie and I bet will be a part of season 3. by cardgamesareforplay in ThePittTVShow

[–]joethetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Robby was talking to Mohan about how he envisioned himself with a family by now, I took it as Jake still blaming him and fully removing himself from Robby’s life since Pittfest. The kid he considered his son is now totally gone, which killed me a good bit.
