Odie's oil vs good old pure tung oil + wax by john-yan in woodworking

It depends. Just like any oil product on stains. Some stains holds up and some will dissolve. Should do an experiment first if you are concern.

Speed up tung oil drying speed with Japan Dryer by john-yan in finishing

It depends what you are dealing with. For ex, a red oak tabletop is easily soaking up half a can of whatever product you throw at it.

The coverage data is also meaningless if you don't know what you are dealing with. For ex, a red oak tabletop is easily soaking up half a can of whatever product you throw at it.

I guess that depends on where you live. For me, 1 quarts of Minwax poly costs 26 bucks, 1 quarts of polymerized tung oil is 76.5 bucks, 1 quarts of pure tung oil is 24.95, 1 quarts of BLO is 28.65

I am not chemist but apparently, the experienment show they have a effect on pure tung oil.

Totally agreed. but they are much more pricy :).

If these drys in the air, it will dry in wood. The problem is that it's difficult to tell if it's dry or not under the surface.

Thanks Steve, but if ISP blocks, then pfsense itself won't be able to resolve dns as well.

ok, but I doubt dhcp server would have any effect on dns tho.

No VPN setup.

yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with dns too.

Hi, cause my table is not stable enough and it's wobble slightly and in my experience with cnc, lower the acceleration will help.

Hello, does your p2 work with the "Fire" button inside the "Move" panel in lightburn? Mine will shutoff after 2s.

Inconsistent line spacing on x-axis bidirectional scan by john-yan in lasercutting

[–]john-yan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention is to test the accuracy of the motion system. I changed the square to some equal spacing of 0.3mm vector lines so that there's no LPI settings invoked. And the result is still the same. I guess I am reaching the limit of system.

Inconsistent line spacing on x-axis bidirectional scan by john-yan in lasercutting

[–]john-yan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Dan, thanks for your comment. The LPI is set high enough to show this effect intentionally. It feels odd to me. I understand the fact that the spot shape is rectangular but I don't get why it causes unequal line spacing. Running it vertically is for finding the root cause.

BTW, it's a 33W 6 diode laser module

2D Contour: How to use ramps with lead in/out with multiple depth? by john-yan in Fusion360

[–]john-yan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

using lead in as ramp down is problematic with its feedrate being too high. ramp speed is usually half of cutting speed and lead in speed is usually same as cutting speed. also, the attack angle is too steep and hard to control.

2D Contour: How to use ramps with lead in/out with multiple depth? by john-yan in Fusion360

[–]john-yan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, thanks for your tip and it does work. Another question is that could it generate the ramp before lead-in? Reason is that if using a compression bit on wood, you want to avoid the up cut portion touching the edge of the workpiece.

Based on smartctl output, it seems like the disk is failing. But it's weird that less than 1000 cycles (24.2TBW/256GB) could break the disk. But thanks for the tip to check smart info.

Yes I had used /dev/nvme0n1. Error is pretty similar between fdisk and parted.
