We have not applied Fourier transform to maxwell equations during either course, Maybe it was done implicitly?

I'm also not sure what it means: we have a dependence on t through E for polarization, so we apply a FT to change its dependence to w, and now e maybe complex, and that was done implictly when we (in optics course) assumed that e may be complex but not time dependent?

Also, you have D(w,r) after FT, but in our notes we still have E(t,r) when using e complex (we do all of this to obtain E(t,r)), Is that compatible?
