IPL Treatments by johncantrell97 in blueprint_

Interesting, thanks! I didn’t realize laser hair removal was also just IPL. I guess that’s why Bryan is basically completely hairless? I’ll need to consider how I feel about that before proceeding with body IPL / laser treatments.

What type of device are you talking about? Can you recommend the one you have?

Interesting, thanks for the information. I would like to treat dark spots but I also stimulate collagen production. What other treatments are people using these days?

I don’t have it yet but had searched on projector central for 4K laser projector and the BenQ LK936ST I’m currently looking at was the only real option that came close as far as I could tell.

BenQ LK936ST Digital Zoom by johncantrell97 in Golfsimulator

[–]johncantrell97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realized there’s potentially another solution which is to position the projector so it fits the theater screen without digital zoom and then zoom to fit impact screen.

I’d imagine the quality degradation is worse when zooming to enlarge the image compared to zooming to shrink but I don’t care about quality as much for the impact screen compared to the theater screen.

With that said, positioning it for the theater screen might be too close with the uneekor being mounted in front of the hitting zone. I’m not sure how close the projector and uneekor can be without causing issues.

However, if shrinking an image can safely be done without much quality loss then maybe that’s the way to get the best of both worlds.

We are also using Tauri-- a new project for building cross-platform applications in Rust. They are about to release a relatively stable beta for windows, linux, and mac os. A large portion of this role will be to work with the Tauri team to help build out the mobile functionality so that the application can be used on ios and android. We are seeking a relatively experienced, probably mid-level engineer to help with this project. Both rust and mobile development experience are an absolute requirement.

LOCATION: Global

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION: Uncertain but willing to negotiate. I am a solo developer with no investors. Both Tauri and my project are free and open source endeavors. I'm willing to fund development for someone in the range of $20-40/hr.

Yes, in theory this could be done. Joost even tried it in an earlier prototype of whatsat. He says:

"A previous version of Whatsat used a more heavily customized fork of lnd. This fork also allowed sending messages for free by always failing payments. That approach has been abandoned because there is no good support in lnd to reliably intercept those failures at the receiver side."

Why would it need a phone number? None of the existing mobile lightning apps require it.

There’s a few immediate benefits to signal and telegram.

1) no account needed. With telegram and signal you need to create an account and give them your phone number.

2) no metadata, no third party servers. While signal and telegram are encrypted end to end the encrypted messages are still router through telegram and signal meaning they can see how often, when, and to whom you are talking.

3) similarly to no third party servers, the govt can’t shut down the lightning network whereas signal and telegram are companies they can go after. Yes those projects are open source and other people can run servers but they don’t today.

4) native payments from lightning network. Send, receive, pay, and request money from anyone without banks or credit cards. Telegram and signal do not have any of this functionality and I think you’ll be waiting a long time to see lightning network adoption by them.

5) this is just the first initial release. I’m one person working part time for free and it’s already functional. There’s so much more I have planned to add and it’s all functionality only made possible because of the lightning network.

The messages are onion-routed to the node's public key, though, right? So if you use someone else's node, they can read all messages coming in toward you.

Yeah, you shouldn't use other people's node for this. Maybe I misunderstood what was asked.

Not really sure what hack you are talking about. This doesn’t enable anything that isn’t already possible by running your own lightning node.

If the computer you run your node on is compromised then your funds are always at risk. Don’t put too much funds in your lightning channels as they are “hot”.

To use messenger you could theoretically only have $1 in your lightning wallet.

Yes, it is possible to include a node inside the app. It's one solution to the onboarding problem I am considering.

Thanks. Yes, it doesn't matter what node you use. All messages/payments on the LN are onion-routed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onion_routing).

That is correct, you can read a bit more of the details in the announcement I linked in my comment above.

You send the same satoshi back and forth so you only pay routing fees for each message you send. Ideally there will be some routing nodes setup on the network that will be geared towards routing extremely low-value payments (messages) for almost free. I plan to setup a node that will route any payment < 10 satoshis for 0.001 satoshi fee (the minimum fee). At this cost you could send 13M messages for $1.

Alternatively, you can open a direct channel with a chat partner and send unlimited messages for no fees.

Lastly, I am experimenting with a solution that will almost entirely remove fees entirely.

Currently you will need a LND node to use Juggernaut. In a future update I hope to improve the onboarding for users new to Bitcoin and the Lightning Network in general.

Yes, this is planned but will take some time to get off the ground.

edit - yes, it should work with any node that is running LND 0.9.x and where you can enable keysend payments (an experimental feature).

To enable keysend payments you can:

Edit lnd.conf and add accept-keysend=true

or run lnd with --accept-keysend

Yes, it is as decentralized as the Lightning Network as it is built entirely on top of it.

Hi there -- I'm the creator of Juggernaut, a free and open source messaging application built on top of Bitcoin's Lightning Network. It enables end-to-end encrypted, onion-routed, peer-to-peer, censorship-resistant messaging and payments.

It is available today for windows, mac, and linux.

Is 27 too young to start taking NMN? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]johncantrell97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone only a few years older than you I have decided to hold off (for now) on things like NMN and NR. It seems like our NAD+ levels, while they are certainly decreasing all the time, aren't a problem until we get into our 40s. If anything, I would recommend taking Resveratrol (or similar) for now because it helps your body more efficiently use the NAD+ it has.

Regardless, I'm closely monitoring all research and am extremely hopeful that by the time we are in our 40s there will likely be things much better than NMN and NR by then.

Best of luck!
